60. Those who break rules shouldn't be alerting others.
Per DU rules, telling a poster that you have alerted them is a a violation of DU rules.

Second, to answer your question, I keep bringing attention to the fact that you're a member of a hate site, because you continue to advertise the fact, in light of the overwhelming evidence that the group is neither progressive nor productive. If you run with dogs, I can't help it if I see the fleas.

The only Democrats who I'm personally aquainted with that aren't offended by it are the ones who haven't yet heard about Obama's lousy affiliation with that bigot. Every Democrat that I know, straight or gay, is appalled. Even some Republicans are.

9. and frankly that makes me most angry of all
It is literally unimaginable that an equally racist, sexist, or religiously intolerant musican could be given the role McClurkin was given and not have it affect the campaign of the candidate which gave him or her that role. It just cements the idea that I am a second class citizen.

21. Americans are not well informed. period. Most don't know
who their congress critter is. A surprisingly large number don't know who the vp is. Even dem voters aren't neccessarily well informed. I understand your anger and hurt about the McClurkin episode and Obama's lousy behavior around it, but most dems just don't pay attention to the goings on of the primary season the way we do.

38. Exactly, the story wouldn't have been buried if all the details were translated into racial terms
A white candidate hiring a white supremest to emcee one of his fund-raisers, and never apologizing for it, would not only have been made to drop out of the race, he would've been permanently drummed out of politics. And it definitely would've been all over the news, number one story for weeks.

98. I tell every one I know why I wont support Obama in the Primaries and everyone I tell
says they wont vote for him either. So if you don't think people are talking about it - just because the media isnt - don't fool yourself. I personally have talked to over 20 people who were pro-Obama that now tell everyone they know about how he treats the GLBT community (he has yet to apologize). Spiritual terrorism has no place in the Democratic party.

I had someone tell me yesterday they were supporting Hillary and had no intention of supporting Mr. Barker. How could Obama presume to be ready to take on a complex presidency like this one when he's never done anything in his life resulting in worldwide recognition?

Obama audacity is an insult to all past presidents for the good or the bad.

77. Sniffa, I sense a rolly-eyed emoticon in your first sentence...
could I be wrong? I don't deny being a supporter of the Clinton campaign for president. Anyone reading my posts can easily see that.

I resent, however, you questioning my sincerity. What exactly is insincere about my post? Could you clarify? I am 100% pro Gay Marriage, and for Gays in the military serving openly and proudly. What have I ever written that would have you question me on this. I am for human rights for EVERYONE. I don't think there should be any exceptions to it. I don't believe any laws should exist that curtail the rights of some groups over the rights of others.

I hope you will reply to my post.

83. I am pro gay marriage and I am still in favor of Clinton as president...
I realize that Senator Clinton is conservative in certain social respects. I disagree with her on her stance on gay marriage. I don't believe I have to agree with a candidate on every single issue in order for me to support him or her. I would be let down eventually. Not everyone is as liberal as I would like them to be. I believe that Clinton's heart is in the right place where social issues are concerned. I am sure that Obama's heart is also in the right place on most social issues, but what sets things apart for me is the fact that Mcclurkin was not only given a forum (by Obama) in which to sing, but he was made the emcee and give 30 minutes to rant and rave and spew his hateful brand of bigotry. If Clinton ever does that I assure you I will no longer support her or her candidacy.

66. "Most Democrats"??? I don't THINK so!
Keep hope alive, though. Obama's record on gay rights speaks a lot louder than your claim does.

69. Most Democrats already do not support Obama - homophobic bigotry or not.
Some of us have higher standards than ObamaNation.

72. Most Dems. don't support Hillary, either-homophobic donors or not.
If Obama was a homophobe or voted against gay rights, I would NOT support him. But he's not and he doesn't so I do. ;)

76. As I said: ObamaNation approved of his getting in bed with the bigot wing of his church.
ObamaNation doesn't seem to care very much about anything other than 'he's pretty and shiny and new!'

85. What an ignorant thing to say...
Why don't you do a search of my posts (or other Obama supporters) to see what we said when we heard McClurkin spoke at the concert? :eyes:
He's still my choice as he is PRO-gay rights as demonstrated by his voting record, he's for speaking with enemies of our country, will increase minimum wage each year, and on and on. Keep thinking we're as shallow as YOU are.

80. This is sad...
It seems that most of the folks here either do not care, do not know, or do not care to know.

He does not support gay marriage. If someone did not support Black marriage would you consider them to be very pro-Black rights?

He knows he has hurt a lot people with his actions, yet he will not apologize. Why is this?

92. NONE of the major candidates support gay marriage. He is as good as the others on gay rights
if not better. He wants gay couples in civil unions to have ALL the rights of married couples that they don't now have-over 1,400 rights. He also wants to allow states to decide if gay couples should be allowed to get married.

He has spoken out against McClurkin's beliefs. Has Hillary done the same for the anti-gay bigots who donate to her campaign?

94. Hi Jen!
NONE of the major candidates support gay marriage.

Sad but true... :-(

He is as good as the others on gay rights if not better. He wants gay couples in civil unions to have ALL the rights of married couples that they don't now have-over 1,400 rights. He also wants to allow states to decide if gay couples should be allowed to get married.

I have heard him say these things, and I used to believe him. I am not so sure right now. Love In Action is a very scary cult, those that share their beliefs, or PAY those that share their beliefs to talk on a political stage to voice their opinion is scary.

He has spoken out against McClurkin's beliefs.

Has he apologized? If he does not apologize then he does not see the error of his ways.

Has Hillary done the same for the anti-gay bigots who donate to her campaign?

I don't know. I had higher hopes for Obama. I kind of liked him, now I am disappointed.

95. Hi, Zombie-
Yes. Sad, but true.

Why wouldn't you believe him? He did a dumb thing by allowing the guy to speak, but he has since spoken out against the guy's beliefs, saying he strongly disagrees with him, but he did not apologize, saying he speaks out against anti-gay beliefs to anti-gay-believing audiences.

Hillary has gladly taken money and support from these same kind of people. When you TAKE money they expect favors in return-don't you think? I was disappointed in him allowing the guy to speak, but I do still trust and believe him when he says he's a strong supporter of gay rights (minus gay marriage, except on a state by state basis).

84. I'm enjoying all the sorely mistaken posts about 99% of Dems not knowing about this
FYI, GLBTs alone comprise far greater than 1% of the Democratic vote, and a lot of us know about this.

And a lot of our allies know about this too.

And please spare me any LTTEs to the Random Town Gazette by GLBT shills carrying water for Obama after this disaster. They don't speak for me, and from the looks of many GLBT-interest forums around the web, for a considerable portion of the rest of us, either.
