AP NewsBreak: Richardson Ends Bid
MERRIMACK, N.H. (AP) - New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson ended his campaign for the presidency Wednesday after twin fourth-place finishes that showed his impressive credentials could not compete with his rivals' star power.
Richardson planned to announce the decision Thursday, according to two people close to the governor with knowledge of the decision. They spoke on a condition of anonymity in advance of the governor's announcement.

5. Well, it was good to see Bill Richardson in this campaign. Only
in America and only in the democratic party can you have, A woman, a man (who happens to be black) an Hispanic American, and several other guys(who happen to be white) run for and seek the office of President.

10. Man never had a chance because the media didn't create an attractive narrative.
Too bad. He had the best experience to be president.

But American idiots prefer psychodrama.

11. A big part of it was him. On paper he was a perfect candidate but
he was a bad campaigner. He could have been terrific and in some ways stronger than both Clinton or Obama but personality and charisma do matter.

18. He did not
sadly, his resume is spectacular, and he brought a lot to the table. I hear he can be a bit abrasive personally and has some skeletons in his closet that probably shouldn't see the light of day (but doesn't everybody).

Sad to see him go.

16. Nice Timing, Bill
He waits until after NH,
which he had no shot at,
where he got 5% of the vote,
which was more than the margin of victory and enough to affect the outcome of the Primary

But he drops out before NV,
which has a large Hispanic population,
where he would have polled higher than any state thus far,
where his votes would have come from traditional Clinton supporters

How convenient.

17. I liked Richardson.
Don't see him as VP, he was vetted for 04, and can't pass the process.

23. I was going by the OP. So reports of his demise have been
greatly exaggerated.

Glad he's still in the running. He's a good man.

24. Richardson is a stalking horse for Clinton
and he is totally amoral. I don't think he is a good man at all.

He is the ultimate politician who says whatever is needed.

25. Our next president will face a maze of world conflicts. I hope the man or
woman we elect has the good sense to include Bill Richardson at a very high level of the problem-solving.
