Edited on Thu Jan-10-08 05:03 PM by redqueen
Callying that "crying" is bullshit.

I don't know that she faked it.

37. Thank you for your clarification.
I figured that's what you meant.

I still don't believe any of it. I didn't see any tears, but it appeared to work. Tearing up, choking up, acting. It wasn't spontaneous, she needed a cue. She gets humanized. Acting.

17. I have come to the conclusion that most men (and some women)
actually don't know the difference between "crying" (which suggests weakness to most men) and having an emotional reaction (which suggests strength to most women).

Which, of course, has caused me to have several discussions with my male friends. It does seem to be difficult for them to get the difference. However, with a little patience they appreciate their new insight.

26. Men are more likely to be swayed by female emotional reactions
women usually are harder on other women.... kind of like men who are actually *more* sympathetic to accusations of rape than women are.

women know the game.
that's why it's unsettling
to see women fall for
the game -- to other women.

19. If you think she did this on purpose
you are obtuse. She was tired, she wants this job and when she tried to explain how much it means to her, her voice caught, I thought it was a perfectly reasonable response under difficult circumstances. And I am not a Hillary supporter.

21. No, you've got it backwards.
She's a politician.

It's her job to look you in the eye and smile as she sends your kid off to die for oil.

Her choking up is as phony as any other con artists. You'd have to be a sucker to fall for it.

And yet Clinton supporters are pissed at Obama supporters for discussing Cuomo using an obviously racially-charged expression.

if she shows any emotion whatsoever from now on, her detractors will jump all over her, saying it's an act. If she shows no emotion, they'll stick with the "cold" label. Assholes.

23. she just continue to be herself
people saw her real self when she misted up

they saw her real self when she fought back angrily against Edwards bizarro NH debate attack.

when people see Hillary be herself --it's positive.

Apparently she has learned she doesn't have to be an emotionless robot.

She said it herself --she's found her voice.

Guess what --People can like Hillary now.

It's suddenly allowed again.

27. After 60 years
shouldn't she have a pretty good grasp regarding effective communication?
Shouldn't she have "Found her voice" by now?

How long will it take her to learn how to "Be ready to lead on day one"?

30. She never ran for President before
she does communicate very effectively and has her whole career. In fact her very first public speech recieved awards.

But the fact is --there is no template for a woman running for President of the United States at such a high level of scrutiny.

How emotional can she come across? How unemotional can she come across? It's quite a tight wire act, and she has done well for the most part.

As far as ready for day one to lead? That, I believe she has down pat.

that she is an emotionless robot. And you support her (just imagine how those who don't feel).
That is what communication is all about.
It's an indication that she doesn't communicate very effectively.

She wants to be POTUS, yet she can't sell herself to us. How is she going to sell herself and all of the
democratic "change" to the republicans? If it's not sold it aint happening.

I didn't say she was an emotionless robot.

She communicates fine.

You say she can't sell herself?
She seems to be selling herself to a heck of a lot of people.

Or is it that you just aren't sold? Well that's fair.

Obama and Edwards failed to sell to me.

implies that at some point prior to her "learning" that she doesn't have to be
an emotionless robot that she was perceived as an emotionless robot.

Since you wrote the above statement, I assumed that it was your perception that you were refering to.

My bad if I didn't comprehend your meaning.

in fact --she gets called that here all ding dang day long on DU.

That does not mean that *I* think she is one.

and of course who can blame her for this? Look what happens the moment we see her show any emotion --she's lambasted all over the media (and DU) for getting a little misty.
