Proposed Rapprochement
It may be that Barack is not a Republican. He over-compensates because he is black, and feels he has to present a non-threatening Republican-friendly image to overcome innate prejudice on questions of partisanship and general political philosophy.

It may be that Hillary is not a war-monger. She over-compensates because she is a woman, and feels she has to present a war-mongery political image to overcome innate prejudice on military matters.

In the internet hot-house world where Hillary is all about bombing Iran, Obama is all about trashing Democrats and exhuming Reagan.

As to what they think in the secret hearts, who the hell knows? They are both ambitious politicians who have been crafting an IMAGE for years.

2. well that rapproachment lasted exactly
1 post before the rabid Clintons tried to undermine the spirit of your post. I applaud it even though I think it helps Edwards

5. Candidates may have to govern up to their image, so it's not a non-factor
Hillary would probably govern somewhat more hard-line than Obama, but she wouldn't invade and bomb countries just for fun.

Barack would probably govern more Republican than Hillary, but he wouldn't eliminate taxes on all income over $50,000 or mandate school prayer.

3. They are both POLITICIANS, it's true. Obama knows what to say to
appeal to Repubs, while still maintaining a solid liberal voting record. Hillary knows how to come off like a hawk, while still vowing to end the war. It's really an epic battle between two highly-skilled warriors. Fascinating to watch.
