Question about Nevada caucus's and non viable candidates
I understand that Nevada rules dealing with non viable candidates in a specific precinct are different than Iowa.

Can anyone explain?

1. Here is the procedure...
You go to your caucus location for your precinct. Each precinct has a formula derived 'minimum number of voters' to make a candidate viable. You stand under the nameplate of your candidate of choice. After a given time period, a count is made. Your candidate must have that minimum number of voters and if so is deemed viable and gain delegates(according to a formula). If your candidate does not have enough voters that candidate is deemed not viable and all those voters then can choose their 2nd choice. Finally, only viable candidates remain and the delegates are distributed (according to a formula).

4. I guess the main thing is this...
You go in with your first pick. If that candidate is viable in the initial count - you are done. If your candidate is not viable you can choose another candidate OR if you want select 'nobody' or 'undecided'. I think if the 'undecided''s have enough voters - that becomes viable and they can go to the convention and choose who they want.

6. Here are the rules

<snip>

After initial alignment has concluded the Permanent Chair will make three (3)
announcements to the caucus:
1. The number of participants that was required to reach viability; and,
2. The results of the initial alignment including which preference groups
are viable; and,
3. Those preference groups that did not meet the threshold for viability.
At the conclusion of the announcement of the results of initial alignment, if there
are any non-viable preference groups, the eligible caucus attendees in those
groups will have another fifteen (15) minutes to realign in second alignment. Only
those eligible caucus attendees who aligned with non-viable groups will be
allowed to realign. Eligible participants in viable groups will have their pledge
cards collected after initial alignment and only those eligible attendees with
pledge cards will be counted in second alignment.

8. I updated my post so you wouldn't have to read 65 pages....

This is different than Iowa - where supporters of viable candidates could realign.
