Gay Marriage is Going On Despite Bush & Asscroft
Gay Marriage is Going On Despite The Media & the Religious Right.
Gay Marriage is Going On Despite questionable support from many of our leaders.

Gay Marriage IS Going on BECAUSE of MUNICIPAL actions, and the COURTS upholding the CONSTITUTION.

This movement doesn't NEED support from National Political Figures. This movement is boldly flying in the face of the BFEE - more boldly and more effectively than any attempt at a NATIONAL movement in at least the past three years.

So let our politicians do whatever they're going to do. We don't NEED Their overt support every step of the way. And we don't need to wield our power of our vote over them - because we have more power than we think we do. The progressive movement works best when it acts progressively within itself - issue by issue, city-by-city. And it spreads. That's where we have the power. Not when we all try to get everybody to wrangle around everything. So don't get frustrated. Don't be outraged. Don't waste your energy when it could be used right now - for REAL change. If you support the movement, write your mayor, visit your CITY council, march.

We don't need a single leader to fight for us every step of the way. (not to take any credit away from Gavin Newsome & the thousands of newlyweds) Seems we do much better when we fight for ouselves.

I'm not just talking about this one issue, here. This movement should inspire us all - no matter how connected you are to the issue, personally and emotionally. THIS is how we can get shit DONE.

This is a wedge issue, you say - created by the GOP. Not a real issue. Part of the culture war. Well, I'd like to thank the GOP for bringing this issue to the forefront in a manner overtly threatening enough to spur collective ACTION. It couldn't have happened without you. So let's not ignore this, or be shamed by it & try to sweep it under the rug. Instead, we should allow ourselves to be inspired by it & empowered by it.
