MSNBC just said "It's not looking like a very good night for Romney
tonight. "Things are very tight, but it isn't looking like Romney will win SC, and NO PUB has gone on to win the Presidency without winning SC!"

They won't have any firm numbers until sometime after 7PM EST after the polls close, but apparently their exit polls are telling them that Mittens isn't a big favorite there.

1. Mittens was never expected to win in SC.
It's a battle royal between Huckleberry and McLame.

Some exit poll digits --

Veterans: McCain 36, Huckabee 25, Romney 20, Thompson 13
Evangelicals: Huckabee 41, McCain 27, Thompson 14, Romney 11
Independents: McCain 37, Huckabee 23, Paul 15, Romney 14
Conservatives: Huckabee 32, McCain 26, Romney 19, Thompson 17

2. Does it matter?
There hasn't been a election like this in a long time. I'm sure Mittens would like to win South Carolina, but Florida is still in play and he will be a favorite in many of the states on Super Tuesday.

3. IN a way the media has been as dismissive of Willard as Edwards
Say what you will but he's the only one of them to win three races now (Wyoming, Michigan, and Nevada) and has won more votes on their side and delegates from contests, and yet they keep trying to diminish him--I think because they know he would be the easiest to beat by Dems. I don't think SC has ever been considered a Romney state. If he comes in a solid third I think he will have bragging rights. How they can say it's a bad day when he sweeps NV (yeah I know it wasn't much contested) and does decent in SC is beyond me. It just shows how much they want St. McCain.

4. Good. The less relevant Romney is there, the stronger Huckabee is.
I want the Republican primary season to continue to be...HILARIOUS!

5. Why don't they say the same thing for Hillary?
Since she won by a smaller margin and doesn't look good in SC either. hmm...

6. He was never going to do well there which is why he focused on Nevada.
