2. Why they do this is beyond me
I really think the American public in general is smarter than the idiot box and the idiots on it.

4. To be fair to DU...
We don't have a Managing Editor around here to filter out the nonsense. What we get at DU are the collective opinions from everybody with a modem and the ability to type.

6. the moderators only enforce the rules
a lot of really poor stuff, which is as bad or worse than what is satirized in that comic, gets posted here.

That's our responsibility, not the site administrator's.

Let's face it, we collectively don't have much of a position from which to make fun of the MSM, at least not during these primaries. We should be mocking ourselves.

8. Our Responsibility?
If somebody wants to post an asinine opinion, there's nothing I can do to stop it. In addition to being a Big-D Democratic (Party)Underground, this is a small-d democratic institution. Provided they don't break the forum rules, anybody and everybody is invited to post. Some opinions are going to be more reasonable and well-stated than others. The general problem with the MSM is that they are supposed to be journalists, and (one would like to think) they know better than to traffic in gossip and fluff. The fact that multi-billion dollar news organizations can't do any better than an online forum doesn't speak well to the professionalism of professional journalists.

5. This is also DU's greatest value.
I would never have believed the rhetoric and disgusting attitudes taken by one of the candidates supporters (who appear to be in lockstep) if I would not have read it at DU. They have clarified for me the meaning of the so called Democratic candidate who refers to GOP as the party of ideas. I happen to believe we were much better off 15 years ago. Thank you DU.

9. "sits when she pees." I hadn't heard that one!
I'm trying to explain the campaign to my 3 granddaughters. I feel like saying, "You'll have to get used to this because you're going to hear it as you grow up. You've got to be strong and just brush it off." One of them will run for student body president (she says) when she is in 6th grade. I hope to god her faith isn't shattered by then...
