getting it RIGHT from day 1...and that's the kind of President I intend to be." How TRUE! Before that he spoke about not being "able to afford having a President whose positions change with the politics of the moment."

6. He's been busy campaigning and missed votes he wasn't needed for.
And his "present" votes were strategic. Nice try.

No, we need a President with enough balls to not vote for a stupid war.

11. You people need to do some research on the use of the "present" vote in Illinois
Check out planned parenthood of Illinois DEFENSE of Obama in using the Present vote as a strategy move when confronted with BAD legislation.

Hillary simply votes YEAH in total disregard for the interests of the citizens of our country and our military. (iraq, Kyl/lieberman)

28. 3-1/2 percent record of voting "present" which has a very logical explanation
considering the difference between Illinois and Washington DC vote are seeming going over many heads.

29. Sounded more like a direct lifting of her words.
not that I care. I'm not supporting either. I just thought it funny that at the same moment Hillary's words are playing in the video I was listening to, I'm reading the headline that Obama stated today nearly the exact same verbage.

32. You mean, "We need a president who's ready on day one"??? Duh...
Obama took her claim that she's "ready on day one" and pointed out that being ready on day one takes more than experience-it means being RIGHT on day one, not changing positions like she did (on the Iraq War, for example).

He'll get it right, not wrong.

Well, that sells me.

Before, I was going to vote for one of the people who intended to get it wrong, not right.

But BO sure set me straight.

And so eloquently!

In her exhuberance to be a kingmaker, see failed to realize that Barack was not yet ready.

No, not ready. We witnessed that last night.

33. "Being ready from day one."
That only makes sense when Clinton says it. From Obama it sounds like a teenager talking. He's been a senator for a couple years and thinks he knows everything.

34. It does not make sense when she says it. She's NOT ready which she has proven through her poor
judgement. Obama has about 20 years of experience. Not just a couple years as a U.S. Senator.

36. Sorry folks...this just won't wash...
When Hillary borrows lines from Edwards or Obama, you rip her guts out. When they, and very much like Obama in this case, take her lines why you see that as showing Experience and showing that they are ready on Day One.

Case of having your cake and eating it at the same time.

Obama has 20 years of experience at being a large frog in a little pond(Chicago). Hillary has been on the national scene for over 30 years...much of it very prominently at the highest level.

You keep making sputter noises about Obama's penchant for voting 'present' but that does little to reassure those of us who see this as 'keeping his ass covered' without committing to any decision. A president is not able to vote present. Presidents make decisions, at least on paper. Obama has not shown any ability to do that--even on paper.

I note in the debate that Hillary asked Obama about Rezco. Instead of answering the question, he replied with that old tired bit about Hillary being on the Mall-Wart board. This is called failing to answer the challenge...Obama ducked and hid.

38. Um, he's not borrowing her line like it's his. He's pointing out HER WORDS and saying
Edited on Tue Jan-22-08 04:52 PM by jenmito
that she's NOT ready on day one. Do you seriously not see the difference?

And about the Rezko comment, Wolf didn't LET Obama answer until later. He gave Edwards a chance to answer a question and then let Obama respond later. You need to read the transcript-he said the thing about WalMart BEFORE the Rezko thing came up.

40. Maybe you can point me that 20 years of experience
Because it doesn't seem to be listed in his bio. Check it out for yourself:

http://bioguide.congress.gov/scripts/biodisplay.pl?index=O000167

He's a senator in his second year of service. A rookie. And he's spent most of that second year not learning his way around but going about the country stumping for president.

He needs to serve this term and then another. Learn to play by the big boy rules and much more importantly - show them why they need to play nice with him. Then, after a few years when he has a few powerful friends behind and beside him, come back with a roar. I am not supporting a rookie but I will be proud to vote for the experienced senator from Illinois when his time comes.
