Georgia primary has some mighty interestin' features
Edited on Mon Mar-01-04 10:49 PM by zulchzulu
The Georgia primary has a few features and such that may turn out to be interesting. The illustration below shows that it will be electronic. This can be a harbinger to beta testing Diebold technology. The other issue is that it's an open primary where Republicans can vote for Edwards, thus skewing the trends in other state polls. Additionally, there is a vote about the state flag, which is a new design to replace the confederate flag.

On edit: It looks like the footnote credits Diebold. So I would assume this is a Diebold box.

1. Voting Machines
I wouldn't like any voting system where I couldn't see a physical copy of my vote. Especially if Diebold is involved.

2. Yep, this one does not have a receipt
I wonder how hard it would be to have a receipt printed out? Probably be pretty difficult...

3. It looks like something out of the Doctor's office.
From the inside: Those rounded corners and flat screen give it that high-tech US healthcare sheen only those with the best medical insurance know and the last thing Dr. Frist's cat saw, the inside of Dr. Mengele's office.

4. Why are five of the nine candidates who have dropped out, on the ballot?
Isn't a reason for going to this new technology to reduce the cost of making needed changes to the ballots?

People ought to know that they are not voting for candidates but for convention delegates, and that every vote cast on a candidate who has dropped out is a vote wasted! What should be done is to demand the most of this new technology, not to expect the least from it!

5. It's a Diebold box...no need to worry about the outcome
Make sure to return the plastic blank voting card to the primary worker when you're done.

7. Sometimes the law hasn't caught up with technology
Their are deadlines set by statute that dictate when a candidate must withdraw if they want their name removed from the ballot. These laws were probably enacted before computerized voting.
