If all of us who want someone more progressive than Kerry

were to vote Kucinich in the upcoming primaries, we could actually win it. Amazing to think about, isn't it? Because right now Kerry has only 1/3 of what he needs for the barest win, and only 1/6 the total. More than 2/3 of the delegates have yet to be allocated, and Kerry has been mostly getting pluralities, I think, rather than majorities.

Imagine winning! Imagine having a nominee who has a clear, practical, pro-working-class vision for the nation. Imagine being able to vote for someone in November instead of against.



(In putting this idea/suggestion, I have to apologise to BLM, Dr F, Feanor, Sand, and the others who support Kerry so civilly and ably. I wish I could still see in the Kerry of today the Kerry whom you see, the pre-coup Kerry whom I helped elect my Senator. I truly wish I could, because I respect you guys so much.)

Kerry's probably gonna be the nominee and I personally don't see that as a disaster. But since it seems Kerry's got a lock on it anyway, I'm voting for the candidate whose positions I agree with most, hoping that with enough representation at the convention they'll be able to make sure the platform and eventual nominee don't stray from the progressive values of the left.

Dean had a lot of support here, and it's likely that people will vote for him though he's pulled out.

This is a very progressive place, Bush came in third in 2000 (after Gore and Nader) in the city of Ithaca, but unfortunately I don't think the party does a very good job educating people about the primary and how it works...

As you said Kerry's pretty much a shoo-in, so if you do really like Kucinich's platform, why not help in pushing the party platform in that direction?
