Georgia report
I just voted. I live in Columbus, GA, pretty deep south, big on military and exceptionally conservative.
I noted though that there were all the registration cards stacked up by party, for those who have already voted. The Democratic stack was at least 100 times the Republican stack. Can't have been more than 2-4 in the Republican stack at all.
I don't know that this means anything, but I choose to be encouraged by it.

2. Cross-over voting?
I think a lot of Georgians are doing cross-over voting today, sice they still get to vote on the flag, and Bush has no one running against him on the ballot I think.

3. Georgia Primary
Hey Columbus! I am in Atlanta and experienced the same thing at the polls. Of course, the repugblicans don't really have a primary.

Which flag did you vote for? Thank GOD we are done with that F******
rebel flag!

5. Lots of crossover voting going on
Edited on Tue Mar-02-04 04:22 PM by SaddenedDem
Out of 6 voters when I was at the polls (Atlanta burbs), 4 were crossover votes:

I had confronted an old man who asked (LOUDLY) if he could choose to vote for "those damned Democrats today but still vote republican in the General Election." All the poll workers were laughing and encouraging him to choose a DEM ballot (Yep, you sure can, ha ha!). I confronted him and told him (loudly) that subverting the process was shameful. At which time he told me "I'll vote any way I want young lady." To which, I replied "well, good, I'll make sure to cancel out your bogus vote."

on edit:
Turnout is horrid in my location. There were more poll workers and Touchscreens than voters at 1:30 in the afternoon.

6. Ditto on light GA turnout.
I voted in Atlanta today and there were not a lot of people there. Then again, it was around 1:00, so there may have been people at work. Unfortunately, it's starting to rain, so that'll probably keep turnout low, which is not good for Edwards, IMHO.

the candidate is already decided.
