Thanks to Connie Coreleone for finding the pix.

For your viewing pleasure:

Now, don't all the Hillary supporters who tried to ride this into the ground feel silly?

42. No one will care in a few days when the media has given us
something else to talk about, and believe me, they will and it will be some other crap just as silly as this. This whole campaign is being boiled down to petty squabbles egged on by the media. If the issues were reported and positions explained, we would all be better served. Instead, the media is serving Barack and Hillary up to us the same way they do Britney, Paris, Lindsay, etc.

Amen!
It truly is sad that our political process, especially as reported by the mainstream media, is just like watching E! Gossip show or Entertainment Tonight.

If they want all the sensationalist theatrics, couldn't they at least sell it as:

Candidate X puts the smack down on Candidate Y's health care plan. And bicker over whose plan will be more effective, etc.

*sigh* He wanted to give the 2 Senators a moment of privacy, so he turned to address a question by McCaskill.

40. "He wanted to give the 2 Senators a moment of privacy, so he turned to address a question by
McCaskill."

That doesn't really make sense. I can see you arguing that he wanted to give them privacy so he turned to talk to McCaskill, but you're saying that it was she who engaged him first. If he was addressing a question by McCaskill then the reason he turned was to answer her, but not to give Hillary and Kennedy privacy.

45. Against my better judgement, I'm going to attempt this again
Imagine that you are at a crowded event. You are standing next to a colleague. Another colleague approaches. You have reason to believe there may be some awkwardness between the two of them, based on something that transpired earlier that also involves you. She is obviously approaching your companion, not you. You are sort of an honored guest there so many people are vying for your attention. You can choose to turn and address one particular person behind you who has been trying to get your attention OR you can let that person wait while possibly exascerbating an already awkward situation between your two colleagues. You choose the former option.

You are then excoriated by slavering media pundits and morons on message boards who can't fathom that there can be more than one thing going on at a time. Yet these same morons believe themselves infinitely capable of performing complex psychoanalyses on snapshots.

17. No, he wasn't. Claire swooped in to save his ass. Nice try, though.
I find it amusing how much this is REALLY BUGGING some people here!

CNN calls it an AWKWARD MOMENT. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/01/29/state-of-the-union-awkward-moment/

When Clinton straightened up, Kennedy quickly reached across Barack Obama to shake Clinton’s hand. She took it. As they spoke, Obama turned away. Then the senators seated to Obama’s right – Ben Nelson and Ken Salazar — both shook Senator Clinton’s hand and talked to her. Instead of doing the same, Obama turned to look at the back of the room. Sen. Claire McCaskill, who has also endorsed Obama and was seated next to Kennedy, reached across the Massachusetts senator — who was still talking to Clinton — and tapped Obama (still twisted toward the back of the room) on the shoulder. McCaskill engaged Obama in conversation until the moment passed.

That is, I wait for that person to come near and, just when they're about to put out their hand for me to shake, I pretend not to notice it, pretend to be distracted by something, and turn my back on my approaching enemy.

We all do it --- all us consumate assholes.

Thank God the GOP wants us to be the Democratic nominee -- otherwise, we might have to pay a price for our lack of civility and manners.

54. Whistling past the graveyard?
The picture is clear. This isn't spin, because I'm not vested in Hillary, but anyone being intellectually honest can clearly see Obama's gaze IS NOT TOWARD MCCASKILL, but past her.

He turned away from Hillary purposefully. Again, any defense to this is mere cognitive dissonance....again.

64. TRY AGAIN
I'm glad you blew it up. Do you see any eyes meeting there GG???

Neither Obama or McCaskill are looking at each other.

Nice try, though.

71. So
The camera caught McCaskill in mid blink. Obama is definitely looking at her.

There's plenty of conversations where people can carry one without looking at each other.

84. Nobody said he wasn't. The point is, he saw her RED-sleeved arm reaching towards Ted, and THEN
turned.
