2. I don't see how "media savvy" relates to a guy not reporting the facts
Edited on Tue Dec-30-03 04:48 PM by Gloria
correctly...that it is a night for house parties for ? many candidates.

It's called "editing" or "selective omission", ...definitely
not reporting the facts....

5. Selective Omission
David Brock's book Blinded by the Right mentions it. It's what the media does. It's what the media did to his book: ignored it. Proof, right there.

10. GREAT BOOK!
THAT book is the MAIN reason I have gotten involved in politics. I was SHOCKED at the RW politicians. I knew they were bad, but had NO IDEA just how bad they were until I read that book. Thank You David!

12. I agree Gloria
I'm proud of the way Dean has been able to get his message into the mainstream media. Some of that has to be credited to his campaign.

But, I saw all too clearly how friggin' myopic the media can be in the run up to and through the war. It became apparent to me then that the media is lazy, biased and arrogant. That hasn't changed.

I'm not going to let my support of Dean allow me to suddenly forgive the media just because my guy is getting a lot of attention right now. They still suck. I'm with you on that.

I'm also pleased that Dean wants to break up big media conglomerates. Something has to change.

9. Media savvvy, my ass.
The media is nothing more than a bunch RW, WH asskissing, talking head pundits who are choosing our candidate....shoving him down our throats, is more like it. Dean...24/7. It's sickening.

We should write CNN and give them a clue. Maybe let them know that there are other candidates in this race beside the one KKKRove has chosen for us.

People like Al. Or maybe it's because Dean did it first and the others are just copying him.

4. Not quite.
Kucinich has been doing house parties since he began his campaign. As a matter of fact, I'm doing the sound/PA for a big one tonight.

Remember, Howard Dean did not invent the internet campaign, house parties, grassroots movements, sliced bread, etc.

7. Question. . .
When Dean complains about media treatment, it's "whining" and they're admonished to "get used to it." When others complain of the same unfair treatment, it's "outrage?"

I happen to think unfair is unfair, whether it's against Dean or any other Democrat.

13. Dean Has Benefitted Greatly From His Media Treatment
it's called Name Recognition... and they haven't even BEGUN to probe into Dean's Reality or really featured any of his multiple gaffes.

11. Does DK have parties going on tonight?
Edited on Tue Dec-30-03 05:05 PM by TeacherCreature
Glad to hear it and I don't blame you for being upset if that is the case. I hope DK raises a lot of money. How many parties are there? Can you keep us posted?
I can't be at a Dean party tonight because I have other commitments and there is not a local one anyway (I couldn't host one tonight but hope to in the future). I have asked the Dean folks to keep us all posted and I hope you will do the same for the DK parties.

15. you know
sometimes its good to be mentioned on crossfire... sometimes its bad (witness yesterday with the snotnose and crazies fiasco). Dean is going to have a LOT of houseparties tonight and he'll raise a LOT of money. Give them credit :)

Clark has already had 700 houseparties this month - and done well. People will remark on how well he's done in the quarter soon enough.

21. You make such an optimistic and relevant point!
No matter what party people are going to, it's still a huge grassroots effort to oust Chimpy!

Think about how many people will be doing this tonight!

It's fantastic.

18. I agree about the laziness of the media
Edited on Tue Dec-30-03 06:15 PM by Capn Sunshine
hwen we started this campaign, they were only giving us the "left wing wacko" line that one of their sources gave them. These guys never leave their offices any more, they have "sources". If the candidate is outside the beltway, well, the media is the last to know that the candidate is making any headway. Remember until last month they still mentioned Lieberman as the frontrunner.

20. I'm sure the press release...
That the Dean campaign with the houseparties tonight will probably break the fund raising record they set last quarter, had nothing to do with why they might be the one mentioned.
