Anything else and you are not being honest to yourself and to others. We all know that our nominee is not going to spend time trying to win those states. You CAN NOT run away from demographics.

15. well a similar thing could happen
The evangelicals will sit it out because MCCain is the nominee.
Advantage= Obama.

ps the evangelicals hate Hillary SO MUCH ,THEN they would turn out because they have someone to vote against.

It'll be close, but he'll win Utah.

Clinton, though? Nope.

So the people of Utah will vote for Obama in their hatred of the Huck, but their hatred of Hillary is soooo much higher they will pull the lever for a democrat?

Please Please give me some of that, as I want to get as high as you are

18. Yup.
Look at the returns, even Utah Democrats don't like Hillary Clinton.

Many Utahns will sit out this election if the Huckabee is on the ticket, UNLESS Clinton is on the ballot.

16. Well, it's still pretty red here
Our economy is doing pretty well, so most of the mormons here are happy and want another Repub to grant their church more powers and less oversight.

Most of the people here have no idea how screwed the economy is currently.

13. This is exactly why I've got a problem with an Obama nomination.
Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 02:49 PM by Carrieyazel
If Obama has some supporters who make these absurd contentions, it shows a lack of thinking strategically for November. No Democrat, not even the most awesomely perfect Democratic politician could win Utah, Idaho or Georgia in a GENERAL. No chance whatsoever to win these states in the fall.

Your primary and caucus wins in UT, ID, ND, etc were impressive and are duly noted and congratulated.

However, primaries are not the same thing as generals!

19. Georgia went Democratic in '92 and '96
And yes I know this is the point where someone says "Yeah and it was a Clinton who did it so there!" But the point is that it can be won. So be careful about insulting others when you have a short memory.

And if Huckabee is on the Republican ticket then a Democrat can win Utah. Mormons won't forget how he slimed their religion.

I'm not talking bullshiite. I'm telling you what I'm hearing....from repubs.

It could absolutely happen.

The Obama grassroots campaign will not just sit on its buttocks for the next nine months.

Plus, who's going to help McCain in Idaho...Larry Craig?

People in Idaho are PISSED at repubs. PISSED.

28. why do politically ignorant supporters give you a problem with the Obama campaign?
Obama is obviously not politically naive. Clinton is an excellent campaigner and he is, at the very least, giving her a good run for the money.

It is absurd to think that we'll win Utah if Obama is the nominee (as absurd as it would be if someone claimed we'll lose New York if he is the nominee). But I don't understand why nonsense people post on the Internet should be a cause for concern about Obama. It is a strength of his campaign that he seems to generate enthusiasm among people who haven't been much involved in politics in the past. It isn't like they are going to be making his campaign decisions.

Not a solid argument. Do you have facts to support that the predominately Republican state of Georgia will go for a Dem? Would be great to wish so. Kerry did get about 41 per cent.

27. Kerry won primaries in every state Obama has won except SC
How did he do in red states and even swing states in the general? Obamites are cleverly using Obama's strength in the most DLC states to make a false argument that he can win those states in the general. This is ironic since we heard for so long that Hillary is DLC and Obama was cast as the foil to her and all the DLC stands for. Now it is the base of the DLC giving him his biggest victories.

As for Utah & Idaho, they might not vote for the 'Puke of it's not Romney. And it depends on how much of the turnout comes from Boise & SLC than from the rest of those states.
