Interesting notes from a Virginia blog:

UPDATE: I am really sick today so I haven't had a chance to hear much of what's going on- but based on the emails I am getting, Barack Obama is winning Virginia in an epic blowout.

UPDATE #2- Virginia Run, one of the most Republican precincts in Fairfax County has had 230 Democrats and 130 Republicans so far. WTF? Poll workers there just called me and said some Republicans have admitted being told to take the Democratic ballot and vote for the weaker candidate. Who is that to the GOP?

UPDATE #3- ARLINGTON COUNTY SHAME. Cars being towed outside polling places after they failed to have enough voting machines and had an hour long wait to vote.

also, I like reading through the comments section of these state blogs - lots of people chiming in with their voting experiences. Raising Kaine has good stuff, too.

(My update - funny stuff - Not Larry Sabato has already called it for Obama. FWIW, the blog supports Hillary.)

1. that is, indeed, interesting
I'd think the high Dem turnout was because of GOPers crossing over, but with the GOP contest still contentious, I'd think the number of crossovers to hijack us wouldn't be that many. Thoughts?

3. from reading the comments section, Dems outnumber Rs 3:1
so they could make a small difference, but not a huge one.

What is so funny about that to me, is that since I knew my vote wouldn't count, I considered switching my registration to (R) so I could mess with the GOP results.

2. Clinton, according to one Virginian on another board.
She and her family are all voting for Clinton today, because she will be easier to beat. Since people will A) show up in droves to vote against her. B) She's so divisive within her own party & C) Independents don't like her or Bill.

4. That is the Republican game plan. To give votes to Hillary, in hopes of running against her
she's clearly the weaker Democratic candidate, and all Republicans know it

7. I've also heard that some Republicans
(different ones, probably) genuinely LIKE Obama and would vote for him in the GE. I don't know about Virginia specifically, but I think some of his crossover appeal could be seen in the results today.

R's admit being TOLD to vote for the weaker candidate--this sounds like a talk radio stunt.

Just based on crowd draws and enthusiasm, I'd say Clinton was the weaker candidate, but I am biased. :)

5. There is no consensus in the Republican party as to who the weaker candidate is
I've never thought that we should base our decisions on what we think republicans want. But in this case, it really doesn't matter. They don't know what they want.

6. seems that way
Some think Clinton, others Obama. They have no clear strategy to be honest.
