1. I feel it too! I'm with you
don't let the CLintonite harpies get you down. There's a reason why hundreds of thousands, maybe millions who never voted before are getting mobilized. The country is ripe for change, and Obama is uniting that fervor.

than the other way around. I wouldn't vote for a Hillary candidacy, as well as most independents and conservatives. But, independents and conservatives are more likely to vote Obama.

172. I don't get the hostility towards Obama
What has he done to alienate any Democrat, even a staunch Hillary supporter?

Of course, I have no problem with anyone supporting Hillary...but to suggest that you won't vote for Obama is to act exactly like Ann Coulter.

Here's why I think Obama will win in November

He's clueless about JFK.
And he's not open to new information that has been released by the Assassination Records Review Board in the 90's that show that JFK was pulling the US out of Vietnam.
So he remains clueless.

Clowns will say he was reading from a teleprompter. That is not true. Anyone watching him last night knows that was the man speaking. I can say that I spoke with someone who assured me that the guy was saying things that weren't in the prepared speech -- which, as you know, is like Martin and John.

JFK had ideals, he stood for something. Obama is a shape shifter, he changes his views according to who he's talking to. He's more like Ronald Reagan, speaking in generalities, flowery speeches, who does exactly as he's told by his corporate and media bosses.

58. The sheep look up.
You know why Obama scares the establishment? He was not suppose to do this well. He was just suppose to be a "token". The very foundation of our two party Elitist system is about to be shaken to the core. While he is not JFK, he is the change the system needs. If you support the Clintons, I can not blame you for being afraid. Maybe he's for real, maybe not. But one thing is for sure he scares them and thats good enough for me and many others who realize that the system is fixed. Why does Bill and poppy Bush golf together? Why did jr. defend Bill. Did you really have a choice last election? two mega rich white men, from the same elite college, members of the same secret organization, both wearing red ties and blue suits during the debates. Come on folks, you can answer that if you are true to yourselves. Koolaid comes in many flavors. Put it down and look up. This is heady stuff and history, for better or worse, is being made. GO BO!

funny 'made America believe in itself again' is the exact same thing people say about Reagan. Was the US really having trouble believing in itself in 1960? 15 years after winning the largest war of all time? standing astride the global economy like the Colossus of Rhodes? holding a bright light in the face of totalitarian communism?

94. Here is some of what he did in the short time before he was murdered:
Edited on Tue Feb-12-08 10:59 PM by rosetta627
-Started the Peace Corp.

-Ended the Vietnam "Conflict" by issuing National Security Memorandum #263 in conjunction with the Mcnamara Taylor Report to pull all US personnel out of Vietnam starting in 1963 ending in 1965 (order reversed by LBJ less than 24 hours after JFK's murder).

-Started the Affirmative Action & Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) with Executive Order
10925, setting up a presidential committee mandating that projects financed with federal funds "take affirmative action" to ensure that hiring & employment practices are free of racial bias.

-Forced US Steel to deal fairly with the Steel workers union after US Steel used the promise of price freezes to force the workers to accept a bad contract then double-crossed the steel workers by raising prices.

-Signed Executive Order 11063 banning segregation in federally funded housing.

-Refused tremendous pressure of joint chiefs of staff to nuke Cuba during Cuban Missile Crisis, opting instead for naval blockade & negotiated successful peaceful resolution.

-Tried to end the Cold war by urging a joint US/Russian mission into Space, giving a brilliant speech at American University and getting the first Nuclear Test Ban treaty with Russia,

-Signed an Executive Order maintaining the right of federal employees to join unions & negotiate on many issues.

-Signed Equal Pay Act, making it illegal to pay women lower rates for the same job strictly on the basis of their sex.

-Stated in a publicized speech that segregation is morally wrong and it is time to act, then sending his proposed Civil Rights Act to Congress.

-And he was an educated and literary man who studied and learned history well and put his knowledge to good use, unlike you Altec. He didn't flaunt ignorance, unlike you Altec.

Believe me, I know that Obama is no JFK. But I think it's fair to say that JFK's role in bringing America together and being a sort of Washington Camelot wase exuberated because of his death.

104. No sweetie, he didn't start it. He ENDED it.
By issuing National Security Memorandum #263 on October 11, 1963 in conjunction with the Mcnamara Taylor Report ordering ALL US personnel out of Vietnam starting in 1963 ending in 1965.

http://www.jfklibrary.org/Asset+Tree/Asset+Viewers/Image+Asset+Viewer.htm?guid=%7BEF0FA2E0-5B34-4D6C-817D-9118F68A1B0E%7D&type=Image
http://www.maryferrell.org/mffweb/archive/viewer/showDoc.do?docId=152

On November 23, 1963--less than 24 hours after JFK's murder--LBJ issued National Security Memorandum #273 reversing JFK's order to pull all US personnel out of Vietnam. Shortly after that LBJ used the fake Gulf of Tonkin non-episode to dramatically escalate his war.

I hope you learned something here today penguin7.
If you learned some history, great.
If you learned not to pop off about things you know nothing about, even better.
If you learned not to smear a great and brave leader--that'd be best of all.

112. Yup, the gansters took over the government
And their defense contractor cronies (Brown & Root aka Halliburton, Bell Helicoptor) got wealthy.

And good observation, war monger Hillary praises war monger LBJ for passing a watered down version of the civil rights legislation that JFK tried to get thru congress in June of 1963. And in doing so she alienates Teddy Kennedy, who knows the truth about his brother. So he immediately endorses Obama, aka the new front runner.

Well, maybe Hillary can curl up with a good biography of her hero LBJ to pass the time while Obama is in the White House.

117. Oh sweetie, Wikipedia is pure propaganda.
http://wikiscanner.virgil.gr/

Among those proven by Virgil Griffith's program to be frequent editors of material on Wikipedia (as evidenced by IP address traces) are:

U.S. Senate Sergeant At Arms
U.S. House Of Representatives
Environmental Protection Agency
National Institute of Health
Democratic Party
Republican Party
Central Intelligence Agency

http://www.wired.com/politics/onlinerights/news/2007/08/wiki_tracker

"Griffith thus downloaded the entire encyclopedia, isolating the XML-based records of anonymous changes and IP addresses. He then correlated those IP addresses with public net-address lookup services such as ARIN, as well as private domain-name data provided by IP2Location.com.

The result: A database of 34.4 million edits, performed by 2.6 million organizations or individuals ranging from the CIA to Microsoft to Congressional offices, now linked to the edits they or someone at their organization's net address has made."

If you have been getting your information from Wikipedia then it is clear why you are so misinformed.

131. People are going to disagree with me but I think this race is Jimmy Carter vs. Gerald Ford
Carter ran a grassroots outsider campaign modeled on the success of McGovern in 1972. The nation was sick of Nixon and Watergate. Gerald Ford was no one's first choice--certainly not Republican conservatives. Ronald Reagan's people stabbed him in the back. Carter had personal charm and charisma. Ford was an unattractive lump who never could have been elected president. Carter ran a campaign of hope, he promised to bring transparency to DC. He pissed off so many people once he got into office that Reagan and Bush and David Rockefeller and all their special interest friends in the media attacked him, stealing the 1980 election by conspiring with Iran to hold the hostages until after the election.

Since then, the corporate media has run a nonstop smear on Jimmy Carter.

Obama needs to get the proof from Iran that George Bush Sr arranged the Hostage for Votes deal. That will tarnish the Bush Family forever.

134. Well, I also see a similarity to Carter . . . a naive and weak president . . .
not that he wasn't well-intentioned.

Just how many helicopters go down in the desert before you start to question if someone
is sabotaging your rescue plans?

Just how much has to be going on to make you wonder if someone is trying to keep you from
getting the hostages out--?

And why in the hell let Brz do the dirty in Afghanistan?
Was the CIA then doing this on their own --- was Carter unable to stop this madness ---
or did he agree to it --- ???

"We went into Afghanistan 6 months before the Russians came in --
We went in in order to BAIT the Russians into Afghanistan . . . in hopes of giving them
a Vietnam-type experience."

Of course, we also funded the start up of the Taliban via the CIA to ISI/Pakistan
--- and rounded up religious fanatics. Fully arming them, of course!!!

I hate to say this but JFK was also naive about the political violence and aggressiveness of
the right wing. As someone said, JFK thought he was president.

We have a right-wing movement on people's government, undermining it and overturning it everywhere
they can --- and decades and decades of political violence never really investigated.

because there are no warriors like religious fanatics!

141. Say could we have
a little civility here? It's great Obama is winning. But to say he doesn't need Hillary voters is to court political suicide.

They don't have to stay home you know. They could vote 3rd party. They could write in Gore or Edwards.

They could even vote for McCain. :(

True, Obama has the majority of the votes now. People do change their minds - and their votes. Obama talks of us coming together for change. I don't think anyone should be dismissive or arrogant toward those who don't agree.

Hubris is a dangerous and sometimes fatal flaw.

NOTE: Not for OP but as a reply to several posts.

157. You couldn't be spouting r-w propaganda, could you? On the other hand . . .
I'd take JFK over most other presidents . . .

If you listen to the tapes of the Cuban Missile Crisis, you know that JFK was in charge --
and that he was dealing with psycopaths among the Joint Chiefs --- with the goal of
perpetual wars and fat military/intelligence budgets.

As JFK said as he observed the elite/military interest in Vietnam . . .
he concluded: "it's a nice piece of real estate."

Amazing that he had time for for his "drug-addicted/serial womanizing," isn't it --- ???

184. What I am saying to you is that he ran his business well --- while . . .
Both Bill Moyers and Pierre Salinger have told us that LBJ was "clinically psychotic" ---
LBJ had any number of mistresses at any given time and, in general, was a murder in the very
personal sense --- and a prime mover of the coup on JFK.

Nixon was taking all kinds of drugs --- anti-anxiety drugs -- and having an affair with
his boyfriend -- Bebe Rebozo.

GW Bush seems to be in the same boat with heavy use of anti-depressants and a return to boozing,
at the least. There are also rumors about odd sexual behavior from him, including rape.
All while running the country into the ground --- killing 2 million Iraqis --- and bankrupting
our Treasury --- not to mention corrupting the DOJ -- wiretappin citizens --- and commiting
generally impeachable and criminal offenses.

Clinton --- well, I'm sure no one has any questions about what he was doing --
but he was also providing mainly PEACE and a SURPLUS.

By any standard, JFK's presidency and his abilities were outstanding.

158. I think that's also going overboard . . . and I'd point out to you that
many are quite high on electing a female ---

I can see the power of that ---

for me, however, Hillary would never be the female I would vote for ---

Pro-war in Iraq, pro-funding the war in Iraq, part of DLC leadership ---
not interested in single-payer national health care ---
and a great compromiser.

We already have all of that with Reid and Pelosi and everyone wants to turn them out!

160. Getting a little ahead of ourselves?
JFK first off was a WW2 hero from a prominent family which means he didn't have to put himself in harms way, but he did anyway. He was in national politics far longer then Obama before running for president. 1946-1960 with terms in the House and Senate. Remember he defeated Henry Cabot Lodge, a real powerful senator in 1952 to get his Senate seat. That already puts him way way ahead of Obama on a political level.

He was also a popular and decisive leader AS President with a proven record. The Cuban missile crisis is a defining moment in US history.

To compare Obama to JFK is like comparing an adult to an infant. I love Obama, he makes great speeches and I believe he CAN be great. He certainly has a long long way to go to be compared to an icon like Kennedy though. Just because somebody makes great speeches does not make them great presidents or leaders. Action speaks louder than words and for that only time will tell.

great orator and pulls the masses in with his personality. He did give ol Raygun props after all. :puke:

I'll give Obama the credit he deserves in knowing exactly how to play the American people - lots of good vibes and played the race card against the Clintons - that was a brilliant campaign tactic though pretty much complete bullshit.

185. You keep thinking that
I lived through the original, dear. This guy couldn't hope to shine his shoes. Keep drinking that Kool Aid. One day YOU'LL come to your senses and look back and think what the HELL was I thinking? Read a few books on JFK, teach yourself a few things about a great man who saved the world from destruction, when those around him wanted to end it.

You have no idea what the hell you're talking about. This empty suit you have a crush on has 2 years experience and if were faced with what JFK faced, he'd poop his pants and take the phone off the hook. Do only one thing - rent Thirteen Days and honestly ask yourself if your hero could handle THAT.

I feel sorry for all you Obamabots, you are all in some sort of a daze and one day you will all wake up and realize you've been duped by a good speaker and not much more.

JFK was no angel, but my God, he was a brilliant president who did great things in his short tenure. Read a few books and educate yourself before you make ridiculous statements such as this. You're acting as if you have a high school crush and you're electing class president.
