What Was The Clinton's "Jump The Shark" Moment?
I wouldn't count the duplicitous duo out just yet, but it ain't looking good for them. If The Inevitable One doesn't fulfill her destiny, then what was the moment at which she and/or Bill "jumped the shark"?

I'm thinking Bill's race-baiting comparison of Obama with Jesse Jackson before the SC primary - I probably wasn't the only one who looked at that and thought "Holy %$#@!".

Any other candidates for the "jump the shark" moment?

8. When she said that suspending Shuster was not good enough.
Granted, what Shuster said was wrong and inexcusable-- but at least he didn't accuse her of killing Vince Foster.

In other words, there are people who have said much worse, who still have their jobs, and go to sleep on a big bed stuffed full of money.

Trying to get him fired will send a chilling effect through the media and galvanize them against her.

I can understand why she might react that way-- I'd probably do the same thing if it were my daughter-- but strategically, it was a bad move.

If I were cynical, I'd say that Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdoch-- she and Bill's new BFFs-- put her up to it to sabotage MSNBC. But I'd give her the benefit of the doubt, and say that she was being a mom and not a politician.

However, I hasten to point out that I am so in favor of Obama that my stance probably isn't as objective as it should be. All I can say is that the Clintons' behavior has actively disgusted me ever since this thing began.

Edited on Tue Feb-12-08 10:19 PM by Not a robought
She was at a baptist church, the congregation was African American and she spoke with a southern drawl.

I was like whaaaaa??? Is she seriously doing this? She's better than that, and from that point on I got a little suspect. For all the posts here pegging Obama as politically calculating, that was a doozy on her part.

If she gets the nomination I hope she gets centered and shows some true character for the GE rather than bottling it in and putting on facades like that one. Because this campaign strategy plus the radio-active been there done that Clinton dynasty baggage, is not going to cut it.

on edit: her first speech I saw on the campaign trail :-)

...by saying it took a president to get things done....a few days before martin luther king jr's birthday.

Since then, the black vote...which, by the way, at one time was in the Clinton camp....solidified behind Obama.

Totally STUPID thing to say. Incredible. Along with Bill shooting off his mouth on the race topic, it was a dull thud.

condescending style. I honestly expected I would support her - the "woman" thing - but she turned me off completely by talking to people as if she was teaching a special education class. Both candidates are very intelligent and there's little difference in policy between them - it comes down to how the candidate makes you feel in your gut. Obama inspires and makes you think we can actually turn the country around. Clinton lectures and scolds.

Inevitability, policy wonkishness, Bill's racist "help", protesting too much about Schuster's choice of word, picking up on the Change Meme when we all know it's more of the same with Hillary. She lost me way before she even started though. I could have shaken hands with her at an event she held 10 miles from my home. (If I had $2300 to contribute to her campaign) Sorry Hillary. I think you would have been a good President, but Obama has the opportunity to be a really transformative leader. Face it, the Clintons are so last year's news.

There's no moment. I just think she has been gradually eclipsed by a more charismatic politician who is more or less similar on the issues, but is more credible at running against Washington.

And she still might win. Although I think Obama is the favorite now, and I am pulling for him, let's have everyone vote.
