Somebody Pinch Me
I've been voting for 28 years, pretty active at politcs at times, and this is the first time that a candidate I actually like has a good shot at winning. The first time that the bad guys are getting knocked back.

Did some sort of major celestial event occur? How can this be?

(Feel free to ignore this. Just had to get it off my chest.)

6. I hope that happens to me before I leave this Earth
No candidate that I really was enthused about has ever made the Democratic nomination.

But I'm glad you finally find yourself in a possible winner's circle!

7. I have an even longer losing streak!
When I was young (and stupid) my first, and only(!) vote for the evntual President was ......Reagan in 1980.

I voted Mondale/Ferraro in 1984, so please dont hold that against me!
:hi:

Never voted for the eventual winner after that either.

14. '80 was my first Pres. election, too!
Back then, they announced that Reagan had won the election before I'd even voted!! I voted for John Anderson so he'd get his federal matching funds. Maybe my vote counted for something.

For a whole bunch of reasons, that's all I keep thinking. And I don't even have much of a belief in a god.

13. Same here. We must be about the same age, as my first time to vote was 1980.
I just told my 11yo daughter this evening that I couldn't believe that someone I really wanted to win might actually do it. Feels good, doesn't it?

16. I feel the same but I'm
extremely cautiously optimist after being disappointed for so long in the world of politics.. which is even more important now than ever.

20. I loves me some MannyG
but don't get too excited, bud. Grandpa McCain will make hay with Barack, methinks. Feel free to correct me if I end up wrong in November, but I deeply, deeply fear what the GE campaign is going to do to BO. I smell a conspiracy at this point to keep quiet about his negatives. Rezko much? We shall see.

21. Frustrating though this turn of events is for me, I'm glad to see some true, calm joy out there...
Congratulations, and I hope I'm wrong about him and his chances. Even if everything blows up here, it's a glorious incremental step towards our collective consciousness accepting that we're not as fractious a society as it often seems.

Enjoy.

Nice post.
