It has been good to see substantive pro-Obama threads and thoughtful examinations of Hillary's record starting to outnumber the flames here recently. Good to see the flames of sexism and racism die down on DU, as people post some of the "meat" that many of us have known all along about Obama's record of accomplishment.
Obama supporters - don't get cocky after last night though - TEXAS is now the key to the whole race. If Obama can pull off an upset there -- or even make it close -- it will mean the nomination. Worse - if Hillary wins it will be played up as a "huge comeback" and will appear to make the race "Even Steven".
BE PARANOID AND HELP THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN NOW!
Good news - Texas is an open primary.
Bad news - Clinton "brand" still incredibly strong.
I speak spanish and have been calling Latinos in Texas for the Obama campaign for past 4 nights!
even if you don't speak spanish - Calling people in Texas is one of THE BEST things you can do. Studies have shown that 1-1 personal contact means FAR MORE than television advertising. If you talk to people - they will talk to others - they may even volunteer themselves. It is a powerful multiplier.
The calling is actually alot of fun too - more so than you would think. You get a mix of responses, but alot of positive people who really want to hear what you have to say -- and think about it.
I know I know I know... but what about DU? Yes - posting and responding on DU threads IS addictive - flames and counterflames are just so titillating! - but FIGHT THE URGE TONIGHT AND MAKE CALLS! You'll have plenty of chances to increase your "post count" on DU AFTER MARCH 4th. Heck look at my low post count and I'm calling ;) Besides - many of you are already 1000+ - so you can afford a rest from your well-worn keyboards!
PLEASE go over to the website, and see what you can do TONIGHT. Get Involved today!
Time is very short - and we are still far behind in TEXAS! (no you don't have to be able to fake an accent to call - just do it!)
