4. McCain is anti-choice
I can't imagine McCain being in a national unity ticket with Kerry or anyone else.

I've thought he was a DINO for about 3 and 1/2 years now. He's one who immediately bent over for * after SCOTUS selected the fraud.

9. tape it and get some sleep
Biden said this was the most disjointed administration he has ever seen in his years in the senate. they just don't agree and can't get it together which leaves Bush in a hard place. He can't believe they don't have a replacement for Bremmer yet. He also said the problem was Chcney........all his dealings are like Paul O'Neils.

Edited on Tue Mar-16-04 08:05 PM by Bombtrack
a great vp in alot of democrats, like mine, opinion.

He would pretty much garentee Arizona, and probably many other moderate red states as well. Also, it would vacate a GOP senate seat that a democrat could pick up

What if something should happen to Kerry - I for one would not
like McCain as President, a Republican. Take the good with the bad
but he will always be a Republican at heart.

28. I think Biden endorsed this ticket because he wants to win
Sounded to me as if Joe Biden is really worried about our country & it's foreign policy.

I think many people in Washington are really scared of a 2nd Bush Admin. And he knows McCain & trusts him, & thinks this ticket would win.

I don't know that Kerry is interested in McCain. I don't think McCain would be willing to change parties. And finally, there are many Dems who would be irate with this ticket, & would never support it.

In my opinion it would win, big time, but I don't think it will happen.

13. A Kerry/McCain ticket
would ensure a Kerry win. Think about it. Two Vietnam veterans put aside their partisan differences to do what is best for the country. That is a winning message. Possibly unprecedented. McCain is no neo-con. He probably hates Bush as much as we do.

I am in no way endorsing such a ticket but I would love to see the shit storm such an announcement would bring.

Just my 2 cents.

19. It is precisely that McCain is a Republican
that will stress the point. That a moderate, albeit hawkish, conservative like McCain would accept a VP nomination from a Democrat would be a rather blatant signal as to the danger of a second Bush Term. This ticket would win a significant majority of Independent/Undecided voters, IMO. And that is a large voting bloc. The question is would the Democratic party accept it. Probably not. So the question is moot. But it sure is fun speculating, ain't it?

21. It's fun speculating, but now is not the time, imo, for such a thing.
We're walking a tightrope and need to unify as never before. Putting McCain on the ticket, which I agree is highly unlikely, is a horrible idea. He's against choice and has many other bad rightwing positions. The Pukes might like it because they know that ticket would give Nader more momentum and divide our Dem base.

And anyway I am more concerned with uniting this country than I am for any party.

for him in New Hampshire. I think the whole Kerry/McCain spin is ridiculous. I'm also highly suspect of Biden, who has been a Dem turncoat in the past.

that could even be imagined!! As if Kerry isn't bad enough, not reducing the BLOATED PIG OF A DEFENSE BUDGET much.

26. I disagree on this point
McCain has been a HARSHER critic of the Pentagon than any Dem. He consistently votes against waste & abuse.

John Kerry has said publically he'd would consider McCain as Sec of Defense.

Right now the Pres. is not able to select any Secretary of the services because McCain has a hold on them. The airforce tanker deal was uncovered by him & he is demanding emails regarding the scandal. There are 2 people who have been indicted thus far.

Dislike McCain all you want, or refuse to accept him because he's a Repub, but familiarize yourself with his positions.

18. What the hell is wrong with him?
The only reason to support McCain on the ticket is if you don't believe in the Democratic Party. This would be a desperation move that sends the message that "even Democrats know that America stands against them". Even if it worked for the short term, (which it wouldn't, this would reinforce the idea that there is no difference between the two Parties to the disaffected left without replacing them with enough swing voters to make it pay off), it would cripple our image long term. Luckily, Kerry is not going to do this.
