my theory about Nader voters
I think about half of them aren't really disenchanted Democrats or fringe leftists. They're just people who want to vote for the most visible third party candidate because they aren't totally happy with the two major ones REGARDLESS OF HIS POSITIONS. I think there was some poll showing more Nader voters voted for Perot in '96 than Clinton or Nader.

here are two quotes from a non-political message board:

I voted for McCain in the primaries, but when he failed to obtain the Replublican Party's nomination, I voted for Nader.

i'm just glad he's running b/c it means i don't have to vote libertarian just so i won't have to choose between the lesser of two evils.

now, why would anyone who would vote for any Republican vote for Nader? Or why would they choose between Nader and the Libertarian party when the two don't really have that much in common? Because they don't like either party and don't care about who the big third party is?

I posted about my friend here before who said she was going to vote for Nader (she now said she would vote for Kerry). Originally she didn't want to vote for Kerry or any other Democrat because she was pro-life and didn't want to vote for * because she disagreed with him on literally every other issue and hates him as much as me. However, Nader is also pro-choice. So why support him? Because she doesn't like either major party and will take the most visible alternative, no matter what it is.

In other words, a good chunk of what he polls would probably rather vote for Roy Moore than Kerry. Thus, while I'm pissed at him for running again which he should've not have done, we must keep in mind the threat is quite overestimated.
