1. Call your congressmen.
Don't let this go. I wonder if I will get hate mail from Pete King again.

6. well
It Rumsfeld claimed he never talked about an "immediate thread" (concerning Iraq) and then got confronted with own remarks he himself made. These quotes then made him look like the total fool he is.

8. McCain says Bush can not be trusted
BILL MOYERS: If you can't trust them (The Bush Administration), why can we?

SENATOR JOHN MCCAIN: I don't...I can't answer that, except to say that in 20 years around this town I've never had my word...I've never had people break their word to me in this fashion.

http://www.pbs.org/now/printable/transcript_mccain_print.html

I know it's borderline criminal for some around here to put in a positive word about McCain, but he has a lot of respect from people on both sides of the political spectrum around the country. And when he says "I can't answer that....in 20 years around this town I've never had people break their word to me in this fashion" that will strike home to some people.

It's all about the credibility gap.

10. Borderline criminal? I'm guilty.
I may not agree with everything he has to say, but I can at least respect McCain. He can speak English. He can speak without a teleprompter. He's even more of a liberal than Lieberman... I wouldn't necessarily vote for him over a democrat, but I could at least tolerate his term in office, unlike the alleged president we currently have.

11. Here's the testimony
http://www.defenselink.mil/speeches/2002/s20020918-secdef.html

search for 'immediate', then search for 'imminent' to find the quotes.

...

There are a number of terrorist states pursuing weapons of mass destruction—Iran, Libya, North Korea, Syria, to name but a few. But no terrorist state poses a greater and more immediate threat to the security of our people, and the stability of the world, than the regime of Saddam Hussein in Iraq.

...

Some have argued that the nuclear threat from Iraq is not imminent—that Saddam is at least 5-7 years away from having nuclear weapons.

I would not be so certain...
