Clinton's response to the day's Drudge

The Clinton campaign puts out a response from Maggie Williams, which doesn't respond to the question of whether a staffer was circulating the photo of Obama in Somali garb, but takes issue with the Obama campaign's embrace of the issue:

Enough.

If Barack Obama's campaign wants to suggest that a photo of him wearing traditional Somali clothing is divisive, they should be ashamed. Hillary Clinton has worn the traditional clothing of countries she has visited and had those photos published widely.

This is nothing more than an obvious and transparent attempt to distract from the serious issues confronting our country today and to attempt to create the very divisions they claim to decry.

We will not be distracted.

Good Lord, I get worse crap than this in my email once a week, at least. If it's not about Obama, it's about Nancy Pelosi or Teddy Kennedy.

I believe all this kind of stuff does not matter to anyone who would vote for Obama. If they can be influenced by crap like the photo, they're already voting for McCain in the general election. This kind of crap won't sell to 60% of the voters, and almost none of the Demcrats.

I understand why our Obama peeps are upset, but I'm a lot more upset about Hillary's chronic lying about HER position and HIS position on key issues. That does matter.

But a photo? We'd better get used to laughing that stuff off and ridiculing anyone who believes it. I've got a crazy rightwing aunt that sends me anti-Democratic every month, often repeating herself. I get all the nasty anti Obama stuff, and I keep telling her she must like Hillary, since that's who this stuff is intended to help. She hates Hillary worse than Obama, and Teddy worse than Hillary. Of course, if it weren't for Democrats, she would have been dead and gone long ago. Every dollar she gets from Social Security or Medicare is there because DEMOCRATS made it happen.
