1. Hagel impressed on Iraq but his summary voting record is appallingly
far Right.

2. I like it but a Republican might not be a good idea as VP. . .
Edited on Tue Feb-26-08 08:36 AM by wndycty
. . .but I could definitely see Hagel in the cabinet. Secretary of Defense or others. It is important for any Democrat to have a Republican or two in his or her administration. Hagel is ideal. I really like him.

Hagel is a conservative Republican. Obama wouldn't pick him.

5. I think it's an unspeakably awful idea and it makes me angry
to see dems suggest any such thing. Chuck Hagel is a republican. He is a conservative. He's largely voted the bush party line. He voted FOR the fucking war. It's stupid to even think about it. If anything happened to Obama, we'd be stuck with a conservative repuke. Please think before posting.

13. VP? Not likely... having someone like him in the cabinet? Possible
Bill Clinton picked a Republican or two over the years, so it would not surprise me. Hagel is impressive in some positions and stands that he's taken.

With Clinton being the first to be asked.

As for Hagel, what Mr. Crusoe said. Hagel is correct (now) on one issue, Iraq. Stopped clock and all that . . .

30. She'll be asked
but she'll turn it down. Ego won't allow her to be #2. Some folks have mentioned Claire McCaskill, but she's a Vichy Democrat, collaborating with Bush on FISA.

I'm guessing Edwards will (or has been asked) first, to help Obama in the South.

Of course, in my fantasy world, Obama asks Mel Watt, my local congressman, Carol Mosley Braun, and heads all over Freeperland explode at the idea of TWO black people in the White House.

Richardson is a possibility to try and sew up the Latino vote.

He could of course offer it to Nader to shut him up and keep him out of mischief, but that would piss off a LOT of folk on the Left.

Off course, he should offer the job to Jeri Ryan, since he owes her for getting him the job in the first place. :)

Ah... No.

I don't know if Obama would pick a woman running mate, but if he does, it will *not* be Sen. Clinton.

Maybe Kathleen Sebelius, though.

16. Hagel may not like Iraq
but he LOVES every other vile conservative plan out there.

No, the best way to get me to sit out the election would be to put a Republican on the ticket.

Why do people have such little faith our side can win?

18. I probably wouldn't vote
Hagel is a reactionary who mostly opposes Bush's handling of the war, rather than the war itself. I'm already concerned with Obama's outreach to religious Christians, homophobes, and Republicans. If he reaches any further, he won't be a Democrat.

I don't start threads trashing Obama (you trash Clinton daily) nor have I ever started a thread embracing a Republican who is anti choice.

37. I trash Clinton daily? WTF? Have you even read my posts?
Have you read the posts where I've complimented her? And the posts where I've said I voted for her twice for senate? Or where I've said I was impressed with her when I met her? You don't know anything about me. I've read plenty of posts of YOU bashing Obama relentlessly. Man some of you are completely bat shit crazy. Just b/c I will support the democratic nominee whoever it is doesn't make me a secret repug. It does however make YOU suspicious as I know you will not do the same thing.

Secondly, I NEVER EMBRACED HAGEL. I ASKED WHAT PEOPLE THOUGHT ABOUT HIM AS A VEEP B/C I'VE READ IT IN AN ARTICLE. HOW DOES THAT MEAN I'M EMBRACING HIM? DO YOU EVEN THINK WITH YOUR HEAD? Apparently not.
