1. As long as open primaries and the inherently UNdemocratic caucuc systems remain
then the superdelegates are necessary to counter that foolishness.

4. No shit, Sherlock
And as long as some states are going to continue with these archaic and antiquated systems, then the national party needs a counterweight to their foolishness.

8. super delegates
IMO getting rid of open primaries and Caucasus is more important. First thing, get rid of a system that has certain states always first. that should be rotated some way to balance it out.

2. They are there for a good reason
But it isn't what everyone is saying it is.

In 1972 most of the party leadership was not a deleagte at the convention. This caused a split in the party that lead to a 49 state rout.

The super delegates were added to ensure the party leaders would be part of the process. They are not there to overturn things, unless there is an actual reason to do so--ie the pledged delegate leader was caught robbing a bank. They won't overturn this year's either. It will go to the leader in pledged delegates. Should they try, ther party would be divided worse than at any time in it's history, and many voters would leave the party or never vote again.

They tried to float a trial-balloon to use them to swing the nomination already. It hit the ground so hard, it exploded. Everyone in 20ft had to go to the hospital to get the shrapnel of trial-balloon parts removed from their body.

7. The real question should be what happens to caucuses.

10. That's important too. But people have to change that on a statewide level.
