Joe Biden is very perceptive and very Right...so stop the hand-wringing
I agree with him...a protracted fight is fine...gives all the media attention to the Dems...stop worrying, whoever comes out on top will win the GE.

Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. of Delaware, who left the Democratic presidential race after losing in Iowa, said he was not worried about the consequences of the primary fight.

“I think people are getting a little too excited about it,” Mr. Biden said, suggesting that the emphasis on the Democratic contest may make it hard for Mr. McCain to be heard in the coming weeks. “I think the party is absolutely, positively united in its desire to win the White House. I don’t think there will be any problem getting back together.”

3. Except that our candidates do all McCain's work in tearing each other down
And then McCain comes in with his .25 in the till and rakes up the win.

4. I wish they gave his direct quote on the impact on McCain
I agree serious Dems will unite behind the Dem nominee to keep the GOP out of the White House. I'm not sure about the lack of attention hurting McCain.

5. Obama and Clinton ought to "tag team" McCain for remainder of primary
Edited on Thu Mar-06-08 04:43 PM by LSparkle
Until one of them is the nominee, they ought to agree to just
beat up Bomb-Bomb McCane -- and the SDs ought to hold them to
it (like David Bender said on Rachel's show last nigth). If
one of them starts going negative on anyone BUT Bomb-Bomb, the SDs
should come out en masse for the other candidate. We have an
opportunity here to have TWO CANDIDATES beating up on McLame
("two-two-two punches at once!") -- right jab, left jab (JIB
jab!) -- which could do TWICE the damage ...

6. That's exactly what I've been thinking...
If they both start hitting him hard, he won't be able to return attack each of them equally. They could completely neutralize him if they tried. Whatever is going to happen will happen as far as the primaries go -- I don't think any more campaigning against each other by either Obama or Hillary is going to make much difference at this point. They should just let the chips fall where they may and concentrate on the "real" enemy.

7. Pipedream
If the party tears itself to pieces with this Primary, it will send a message to the voters, particularly the all-import swing and indy ones, that the Democratic party can't even govern its own organization let alone an entire nation, and they will either vote for McCain or go third party (either of which essentially remove votes from the Democrat slot).

No, this won't be good for the party. People will look at the Democrats and see the after-effects of a clusterbomb, and they will look at the Republicans and think: "Gee, I really hate this neighborhood, but at least it's clean and it has a McDonald's."
