Obama rallies state Democrats, throws support behind Lieberman
By Stephanie Reitz, Associated Press Writer | March 31, 2006

HARTFORD, Conn. --U.S. Sen. Barack Obama rallied Connecticut Democrats at their annual dinner Thursday night, throwing his support behind mentor and Senate colleague Joe Lieberman.
http://boston.com/news/local/connecticut/articles/2006/03/31/obama_rallies_state_democrats_throws_support_behind_lieberman/

Who came to Lieberman's rescue? Sen. Barak Obama, with a ringing endorsement.

"I know that some in the party have differences with Joe," Senator Obama said, all but silencing the crowd. "I'm going to go ahead and say it. It's the elephant in the room. And Joe and I don't agree on everything. But what I know is, Joe Lieberman's a man with a good heart, with a keen intellect, who cares about the working families of America."

Then, with applause beginning to build, he finished the thought: "I am absolutely certain that Connecticut's going to have the good sense to send Joe Lieberman back to the United States Senate." That time, people cheered loudly

The Reverend Al Sharpton, one of the most prominent black civil rights activists in the country, is challenging the policies of the only African-American candidate for president.

Rev. Sharpton told CBS News yesterday that he wanted Senator Obama, a Democrat of Illinois, to explain why he backed Senator Lieberman when the Connecticut lawmaker was locked in a tight race for the Democratic Party nomination for the Senate last year.

3. Like most Senate Dems Obama supported Joe in the primary
when Lamont won he endorsed Lamont and campaigned for him. Bottom line is who did Lamont support this year for president? Obama. Not Clinton.

6. Which senate candidate did Obama support in the general election?
Oh yeah, it was Ned Lamont.

Who has Lamont endorsed in this election? Oh yeah. Obama.

If you want to be intellectually honest, why don't you change your heading to "Obama WAS a Lieberman supporter"

HARTFORD, Conn., Oct. 27, 2006
By ANDREW MIGA Associated Press Writer
(AP)

(AP) Democratic Sen. Barack Obama, a vocal defender of Sen. Joe Lieberman earlier this year, is urging Connecticut voters to rally behind his rival, Ned Lamont.

The Illinois senator and potential 2008 presidential candidate sent an e-mail message Thursday praising Lamont.

"Ned Lamont has waged an impressive grass-roots campaign to give the people of Connecticut a choice in the November Senate election," Obama wrote. "Please join me in supporting Ned Lamont with your hard work on-the-ground in these closing weeks of the campaign."

16. Thanks for the link. Hillary lies, it's a pattern.
http://action.credomobile.com/sirota/2008/03/the_clintonlieberman_connectio.html

Clinton was actually even more brazen than Lieberman. Not only did she lie about her record, she actually went on the offensive attacking Obama over the very trade deal she has long championed, "rais doubts about whether he was committed to reworking NAFTA," as the AP noted. To use the Lieberman-Lamont analogy, that's would be like Lieberman not only pretending to be against the war, but actually attacking Lamont for not opposing the war more strongly. Even Lieberman wasn't cravenly dishonest enough to do that - but Clinton was.

Hillary Clinton no longer a Dem, it's time she learned the Zell Miller rule.

"Support for War Tests Lieberman's Re-election Prospects

By WILLIAM YARDLEY
Published: April 2, 2006

"HARTFORD, March 31 — Three times on Thursday night, Senator Joseph I. Lieberman asked the crowd of 1,700 for quiet during his remarks at the state Democrats' annual Jefferson Jackson Bailey fund-raising dinner.

A few minutes later, however, the audience was riveted as Senator Barack Obama of Illinois, the guest speaker at the $175-a-plate dinner, stood on the podium and began the customary round of recognition of candidates and incumbents in the room. When he got to Mr. Lieberman, who is his mentor in the Senate and who helped recruit him to speak at the event, the applause again was muted.

Then, with applause beginning to build, he finished the thought: "I am absolutely certain that Connecticut's going to have the good sense to send Joe Lieberman back to the United States Senate."

11. Being from the area, I can tell you what happened in CT
Obama supported Lieberman while it was expected by the party that Joe would get the dem nom nearly automatically.
Then Ned became a serious player and when Ned won the dem nom Obama supported the party nom which was Ned not Joe

wouldn't touch Hilly Lieberman with a ten foot poll. No way around that one, desperately as you wish it.
