The impotent fight - H vs O ... aka neither can help us now
This country is in such a state and there is so little difference between them, that neither will save the country from the very, very, hard times ahead.

We (our gov't officials) don't own or control anything, anymore ... our independence has been lost - sold out to the highest bidder. The multi-national corporations and foreign countries holding our HUGE debt/large reserves of wealth own our country.

And, it will take more than a few miracles for us to regain any control over our destiny - not a single President or Congressional super majority.

2. Yeah, maybe everyone ought to be working less for these two 'saviors'
and, work/donate more $$s and time to local/regional/state progressive causes that might actually make a difference in their lives.

5. I already do ... but, in a very small way
Edited on Thu Mar-06-08 11:37 PM by sjdnb
I teach English as a second language to a small community of immigrants, support disenfranchised voters (with transportation/voting rights education, etc.) and provide websites/technical support for small nonprofits in my region, pro bono. My son has started working with me for other small nonprofits and election related activities. I doubt we'll accomplish much in the grander scheme of things, but we do what we can.

On edit: I did try blogging for a while, but, due to time/resource constraints, it was either blogging or doing -- and, I chose doing.

3. Fight
Yes, but the tone is set by whoever is at the top of the pile. This kind of cynical dismissal of the importance of the presidency isn't born out by the facts. All those progressive causes will do a lot better with a Democrat in the White House than a Republican. No, they can't be "saviors;" but they can be leaders.
