Did any of the Dem candidates say - 'boy that Nixon really has some great credentials!'

1. 1968?
In 1960 what Humphrey thought of Nixon was a non-issue.

3. I assume you mean '68 but on a side note
JFK and Goldwater were complete opposites on everything political, but were actually good friends and planned on doing a Barnstorming-style Debate Tour accross the country for the 64 election campaign. They were even going to travel on Air Force One together!

Sadly that never happened.

4. The point of the OP is that in 1960 HHH was running in the primary against the
young, inexperienced JFK.

6. Wrong. JFK had as much experience (14 years) as Nixon, who was only 4 years older than JFK
Yes, Nixon in 1960 was only one year older than the "young" Obama in 2008.

9. Nixon had been Vice-President 1952-1960, having been BOTH a Rep. and a Senator.

Not quite the same as JFK's 14 years in the Senate alone, but hey---I was for JFK, so don't kill the messenger.

10. They both became congressmen in 1946
Nixon moved up to the senate in 50', JFK in 52'. Here are their real resumes:

JFK: 6 years in the House, 8 years in the Senate
Nixon: 4 years in the House, 2 in the Senate, 8 as Veep

Both had 14 years of experience, although Nixon's was qualitatively better since he was veep, not just a senator for 8 years. Compare JFK's experience to Obama's inexperience...
