Pennsylvania and the DLC Spin Machine
As folks may or may not realize, the so-called Democratic "machines" and the spin coming out of this state are coming from dyed-in-the-wool DLC members that include Governor Ed Rendell (http://www.dlc.org/ndol_ci.cfm?kaid=104&subid=116&contentid=254200), Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, a charter member of the "New Democrat Local Officials Network" (http://www.ndol.org/ndol_ci.cfm?contentid=863&kaid=85&subid=108 and http://www.ndol.org/ndol_ci.cfm?contentid=251656&kaid=104&subid=210), and State Democratic Party Chairman T.J. Rooney (http://www.ndol.org/ndol_ci.cfm?kaid=104&subid=210&contentid=1818). It was time to call them out for who they are.

Do I really need to say any more about the whys and wherefores regarding the anointment of their own DLC candidate as the presumptive winner who they believe they will hand to the party on a silver platter without protest from non-DLC supporters? Need I point out the telltale gutter tactics that have already occurred from these so-called Democratic leaders in this state?

Some of the facist RW DLC promises that have been promoted in the city of Philadelphia upon the election of its new mayor include the questionable "Stop and Frisk", where merely standing on the sidewalk exposes you to gestapo searches because you are now assumed to be guilty until you prove yourself innocent. Is this what we have to look forward to under complete DLC control? I.e., more Bush-like terra nonsense?

It is time to purge the Democratic party of the DLC for good and that includes this state. It is apparent when looking at the the most recent DLC strategy of late, including the usual smear campaigns, innuendos, mud-slinging, race-baiting, prevarication, cheating, and even placing the other party's candidates above our own, that this sort of thing will continue unabated unless they are called on it and exposed for who and what they are. They have beguiled the media and as PE is wont to say, "Don't believe the Hype".

Yes I know I will get flamed for this and will most certainly get the usual simpleton " " smilies :eyes:, but this is my little rant after confirming the sad state of the party here in Pennsylvania as the focus now shifts to this state during this primary cycle. This is my 8th presidential election as a voter and as exciting as it is due to the historic nature of it, it is just as depressing when you see such infighting and vitriol occuring within your own party.

1. Reality Check
I'm an Obama supporter who has been active in the DLC.

So is Gov. Kathleen Sebelius.

So is Gov. Janet Napolitano.

So is Soon-to-be-Gov. Jack Markell.

The DLC is not involved in the nominating process. Al From is a Hillary backer, but the rest of the staff and non-staff leadership is as divided as the party as a whole.

And contrary to popular belief, in 2004, the DLC was not an arm of the Lieberman campaign. DLC president Bruce Reed was an advisor to Edwards, think tank director Will Marshall was with Kerry, as was communications honcho Ed Kilgore.

3. Another reality check
is that Al Gore was also DLC. But he and others have drifted away from what it has become. There is an ugly group within the DLC who, IMHO are out to slash and burn the party and they are infested in this state.

IMHO, when I first heard about their creation, I thought the group was an interesting idea in terms of being a catalyst for change within the party. But something happened since the 1990s, where so many disillusioned party members decided to go for what they thought was the "real thing" (Republican) and not the Republican-lite of Clinton and they left the party, believing the hoopla of the talking heads on the radio. And rather than inspire members with some unique planks in the platform that could live in harmony with the inclusiveness of the Democratic party, many chose to outright support the full Republican planks instead, with its focus on wedge issues and denigration of key, long-term base supporters.

And regarding Lieberman - IMHO, his focus has and always will be Israel and that drives his perspective, regardless of party.
