Clinton's problem with her base (posted in response to another OP)
Mainly that her base - mostly old white people, usually have better things to do when it comes to voting. (Counting the times they aren't trying to control their bladders or order Rascal scooters :)

If it isn't bingo night or hanging out with the old folks the fossils always have places to go and things to do that are "safer" than voting.

And so when her base lets her down, how can Clinton compete with McCain? She has no appeal to the new base of the Democratic party, blacks, the young voters (who are pretty insistant on new ideas when it comes to voting) and the millions of Americans who demand real change.

No, you can't win an election based on people with one foot in the grave and a few ignorant bubba types, I'm afraid. At least not a national one anyway.

Stereotypes are a bitch, aren't they?

1. Why stoop to their level?
This was an appropriate response to the other thread, but does it need to be its own thread? Why do we need to insult any group of Democratic voters?

2. Because it's (I feel) a valuable lesson in stereotypes.

And, as such, it should get equal billing.

The difference between the posts is that mine is obviously not my real view.

3. Elderly voters are very dependable, it's well known
Many at DU are actually quite ignorant about actual voters.

4. As I said, these aren't my views...they're expressed to illustrate a point.
Stereotyping Clinton's supporters as fossils who frequently wet themselves is no more distasteful than stereotyping Obama's supporters as a bunch of alcoholic kids.

To seriously support these stereotypes (as Quinnox did) is offensive.

8. Yes, they are up early... Gotta get to Country Kitchen...
Sorry, had to slip it in there. Just got done watching that episode of South Park where they take away all the elderly's drivers licenses.

9. WOW, this post is very supportive of the democratic party
It's nice to know we have unity within our party because with a tacky and disgusting post like this our party sure doesn't need enemy's.

11. This is the type of post I would expect no less from an Obama supporter
Calling Hillary, Sybil is such a low blow, I can't believe the attacks she takes. I'm sure with out a doubt the Obama supporters keep the moderators busy 24/7.
