Praying to the Gods of Second Chances (Bill Clinton)

What do all of these states and territories have in common?

In each, the Democrats and Republicans held their primary or caucus on different days and even different months.
Why did the Democrats in Florida insist on going along with the Republicans to move the primary up when the DNC desperately tried to space the state contests so that the candidates had a chance to spend ample time with the voters in that state?

Unlike Florida, Michigan has a Democratic governor, a Hillary supporter and fellow DLC member to boot. What was she thinking?

One more shout out: Terry McCauliffe, the former chairman of the DNC, and Harold Ickes, a big Party poohbah, have been part of Hillary's campaign from the beginning. Bill Nelson of Florida also was an early supporter. Who doesn't believe that Hillary and Bill signed off on these changes last year or that they had a hand in trying to get around Chairman Howard Dean's authority?

While it is common knowledge that the Clintons thought she would win the nomination by Super Tuesday, as we look over the wreckage of their failed strategy,

we can now see that the front-loading of primaries would have fit nicely into Hillary's "inevitability" narrative if all these early state would have gone to her as they expected them to. They never took Obama or any of the other announced candidates seriously; they were more worried that Al Gore would jump into the contest late; hence they tried to foil his chances of jumping in late by packing big states early in the season. Too bad for her, Bill and all the high-powered pols in her campaign, that her chance to be president now hangs by the single threads of Florida and Michigan!

Do not allow do-overs!

Yes, Bill prays to the God of second chances, and God knows he wants a second change to redeem his legacy.
He wants a second chance to create a palestinian-Israeli peace accord
They want a second chance to create national health care
They want a second chance to get Osama bin Laden
They want a second chance to do Iraq right
They want a second chance to atone for Bill's lies about and Hillary's enabling of Bill's philandering.

Sometimes prayers aren't answered; and sometimes they are answered in ways that help you find your proper place under the sun.

4. how ironic that you would support a soviet style "election" from Michigan
even knowing that the runner up was a place holder vote for no one at all, and Hillary barely
beat that "no one".

5. HE took his name off the ballot -- what is soviet style about that?
No one said he couldn't have his name on the ballot and several other candidates did. The truth is he knew he would lose, and took his name off so he could make a bogus claim later on. It was HIS decision, so knock it off with the bullshit about soviet style elections. He was too cute by half and it should backfire on him.

7. the two states willfully violated national party rules.
The rules, which were agreed to by the full DNC including representatives from Florida and Michigan over 18 months ago, allow for two options. First, either state can choose to resubmit a plan and run a process to select delegates to the convention; second, they can wait until this summer and appeal to the Convention Credentials Committee, which determines and resolves any outstanding questions about the seating of delegates. We look forward to receiving their proposals should they decide to submit new delegate selection plans and will review those plans at that time.

The Democratic Nominee will be determined in accordance with party rules, and out of respect for the presidential campaigns and the states that did not violate party rules, we are not going to change the rules in the middle of the game.

3. They never took Obama or any of the other announced candidates seriously - I disagree
I think she did and THAT is why they wanted to front-load the election. They knew that the longer it would go on, the more vulnerable she would be. She had all the advantages at the beginning.

6. I don't have a problem with Michigan or Florida holding legitimate primaries.
But trying to seat these delegates as is is an insult to democracy and to the voters in Michigan and Florida. Wouldn't the people of Michigan like to have to opportunity to select from all the candidates, or is just Hillary good enough? Wouldn't the people of Florida appreciate getting to hear from all the candidates, or is just Hillary good enough? They supposedly moved their primaries forward in order to have influence in national politics. If they want influence, why not have a new election now, when the media is all worked up about the "close" race? They are obstructing this primary because they know Hillary's margins cannot withstand the scrutiny of a real election, and they want to hold onto these fraudulent elections to have a pretext to justify all the anti-democratic activities that the Clinton camp is engaging in.
