I don't think this is a good idea Barack....
Saying Lou Dobbs said we should "send them all back". Not true BO. Why not just ignore Lou? Stupid IMO.

5. Barack said that Lou and Rush "wanted to send back" illegals.
Just now on his show Lou said he had never said that. Why would Barack even talk about Lou in his rallies????

9. Thanks. I don't watch him because he's so anti-immigrant it
makes me sick. So he's never said he'd like to fence the US in and get rid of illegals? Maybe I have the wrong impression of Dobbs. And Rush? They do seem like birds of a feather...

13. No. Now that I think about it, it's a calculated maneuver.
Obama's base despises Dobbs, for the most part. Too bad the right wing thinks he's golden. Dobbs is the one who kept the Pelosi/plane brouhaha going far longer than it should have, even after being informed of the truth by the Sargeant at Arms.

Obama is probably betting the positive returns from his comment will outweight the negatives.

he has certainly come very close. But I do agree, Obama needs to be ignoring all of theis shit and keep his eye oin the prize. He can start fighting back for real if he gets the nomination.

33. Lou Dobbs gives a platform to people who say stuff like that
Then there was Lou's incredibly wrong reporting that aliens have dramatically increased the TB rate in America. The Southern Poverty Law Center has criticized him for giving airtime to white supremacists. Lou is selling a very sophisticated formula of hate and loathing, packaged in a professional veneer and made to look respectable enough that people can discuss right out in public just how those illegals are all ruining our great country. He is a rat.

31. There should be ZERO tolerance for the racism that permeates the immigration issue.
Dobbs has been promoting a policy fueled by fear and hatred, and we've got too much of that sh*t polluting this country as it is. Obama promotes a comprehensive but fair and compassionate immigration policy. Dobbs is a sanctimonious sh*t who has nothing but contempt for fair and compassionate immigration policy. I see nothing wrong with confronting head-on that precise mindset which Obama rejects. We're going to have to go toe-to-toe on immigration at some point during this election, so in my view he's just getting out ahead of it. Other opinions may vary. :)

18. Lou Dobbs: We Can Deport All Undocumented Immigrants
From Think Progress:

Lou Dobbs: We Can Deport All Undocumented Immigrants ‘Because This Is The United States’

In a 60 Minutes interview last night, CNN’s Lou Dobbs said that, while he has never explicitly called for the mass deportation of all undocumented immigrants living in the United States, he believes it can be done.

“When this president and open-borders, illegal-alien-amnesty advocates say, ‘You can’t deport them,’ my answer is, ‘You wanna bet?’ Because this is the United States,” Dobbs said.

Host Lesley Stahl followed up, “If you think it’s possible. How’s it possible?” Said Dobbs: “I think this country can do anything it sets its mind to.”

38. Oh, I'd agree with that. Lou has a very vocal audience. They want to draft
him to run for president. Lou has also been known to outright lie about his past statements, to the point of being presented with video, he still denied it.

Lou is an ass. I've met him personally and he's a lot nicer on TV than he is in person. Sad, but true.

39. When he makes statements like this he leaves himself open to
contextual interpretation, and he knows it. He brings this on himself by making such comments, and he's never been the least bit ambiguous about his position.

34. It isn't fear, it's recognition of his ability to get a theme going and keep it going.
As I mentioned above, the Pelosi/plane "scandal" that never was a scandal, but Dobbs invented it and even now people believe Pelosi demanded a hoity-toity plane for her hoity-toity self.

I really got tired of setting people straight about that issue. Dobbs continued to bang that drum even after the facts were made absolutely clear.

35. So what?
Lou Dobbs and other pundits mischaracterize what our candidates say almost 98% of the time. And they have much less of an excuse! It is their job to report accurately on what candidates say and what their postions are.

It is not Obama's job to sit around watching Lou Dobbs everyday so he can be sure he will be precisely correct regarding all the minutae of the nativist, xenophobic bull shit Dobbs spews.
