Did Ferraro think Carol Moseley Braun was not qualified?
Edited on Wed Mar-12-08 08:48 AM by dancingme
to be president? Just wondering why in 2004 we did not hear Ms. Ferraro complain that Carol Moseley Braun would not have been a candidate for president if not for her race -- or gender. Does Ferraro feel the same way about Carol Moseley Braun as she does about Obama and Jesse Jackson? Does Ferraro only complain about black MEN who run for president?

1. psst: Carol Moseley Braun isn't qualified
you sure you want to bring up the person who played the race card when investigated for money laundering and questioned about defending Sani Abacha?

2. it appears
ferraro only enters the "because they're black" fray until the candidate manages to win some states and are having an impact on the race. If they're just a name on the ballot getting single digits, then they aren't disturbing her white frontrunner.

8. She did not say she said it, she said she thinks it.
Probably because Hillary said it and she agrees with Hillary.

6. The statement is only operative for winners, not losers
If you're black and losing, that's cool--that's how it's supposed to be in this country.

It's shocking that it should be this way in the Democratic Party. I'm truly concerned that because of all this type of thought coming out of the closet during this election that the Democratic Party, for the first time in my lifetime, may see African Americans turn away from the party because of this bigotted talk. It's always been okay when a white candidate gets 80% of the black (Democratic) vote; but it's somehow not okay when a black candidate gets it. They have stood by to see it's okay when the white candidate gets 90% of the white (Democratic) vote--that is somehow just "normal" (about the candidate, not the color). I think they are feeling very uncomfortable about this: I sure would be.
