Obama to Visit Indianapolis on Saturday
Obama to Visit Indianapolis on Saturday

By Christopher Hass - Mar 12th, 2008 at 4:17 pm EDT

As the campaign for the Democratic nomination moves on to the final 10 contests, Barack is making plans to visit Indianapolis, Indiana this Saturday. Details of the event will be posted shortly, and the http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080312/LOCAL19/80312037/0/LOCAL">Indianapolis Star reported this morning:

The Barack Obama campaign announced today that the candidate will visit Indianapolis Saturday.

It would be Obama's first trip to the Circle City in this election cycle, and was expected in light of his tight race with New York Sen. Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination.

… Details of the Obama visit, including time and location, were not immediately announced.

Kip Tew, coordinator of Obama's campaign in Indiana, said that "clearly, we are very excited he's coming to town. It shows he's going to take Indiana very seriously."

Shannon Gilson, a spokeswoman for the Obama campaign, said the senator "will campaign aggressively in Indiana. We have an energized base of support and we're starting to build our organization."

She had no further details on what type of event Obama will hold in Indianapolis.

Indiana could help decide the presidential nominee for the first time in 40 years.

… Indiana's May 6 primary has an import that it hasn't had since the 1984 contest between Vice President Walter Mondale and Sen. Gary Hart.

3. Aren't those 2 states together more of a delegate haul than PA?

6. Easily.
PA = 79 delegates
IN = 36 delegates
NC = 56 delegates

The other smart thing about his trip to Indianapolis is its proximity to Kentucky. And KY offers 26 delegates, to boot.

2. I think we will see Obama in PA, IN, and NC a lot in the next six weeks
because he isn't just putting his eggs in one basket but running a true national campaign.

4. This is smart
While the Clintons are hunkered down in Pa. trying to turn that contest into a coronation, he has the resources to spread the field and make them look deluded and flat-footed.

Actually, they have been deluded and flat-footed the entire campaign, so why should this phase be any different?

9. Love you back, dollface!!
Indianapolis is also only two hours away from the major Kentucky cities of Louisville, Lexington, and the greater Northern Kentucky area (Cincinnati's suburb across the Ohio River, and one of the largest population concentrations in Kentucky).

I wanna GO!!!!

8. LOL. While Hillary is screaming about Pennsylvania,
Obama can negate any wins by taking Indiana and North Carolina.

10. I get paid tomorrow
Time to send the Obama campaign some more money. Unfortunately, with Hillary's refusal to accept the truth, that's money we could have used against Johnny McBoy.

16. Boo.
I'm in PA and I've already got the fatigue!

I was hoping that Barack would camp out here. Oh well, as long as he wins the nomination.
