Poll question: HRC declares MI fair. Would she govern fairly?
Edited on Wed Mar-12-08 04:02 PM by cooolandrew
Article on the board says that HRC call MI fair. Does this indicate she will govern fairly and not be prone to signing statements and the like?

1. I'm beginning to see too many similarities in attitude and action between * and Clinton.
Hopefully she would use her powers for good instead of evil of nominated and elected, but it disturbs me just the same.

2. Yup, only I'm beginning to think Hillary is more arrogant. Didn't think that it would be possible
but Hillary never ceases to amaze.

6. I can't go that far.
In the heat of this awful process, with a candidate who has already lost refusing to build the party and support the eventual nominee, its easy to lose perspective.

But I think it will be a long, long time before the human race creates another human being as arrogant and ignorant as George W. Bush.

16. I don't know about that.
I tried to be the devil's advocate (literally, ha ha) in this situation and point out her good points that place her above him - I came up with nothing.

18. A few things
Bush's arrogance and ignorance takes the form of being totally disengaged on the issues. All issues. I doubt the same would be true of Clinton.

Clinton has demonstrated an ability to do some good things in an elected position. I'd say she's been, on net, a good Senator. That's more than I can say for Bush.

I am intensely, intensely critical of her failing campaign and her current tactics built almost purely on personal ego rather than the interests of the party or country. But there are some things about her career that distinguish herself from Bush for sure.

19. She's not my Senator, so I can't speak well for or against her there.
I do know one good thing that she did that Bush wouldn't do - she did help out the 9/11 emergency responders when they couldn't get any assistance for their health issues that were direct results of 9/11. I feel very strongly about that issue, so I do appreciate her work there.

20. Yeah, that's another good observation.
I can't remember for sure, but I'm pretty sure she opposed the bankruptcy / banking bill, which was a big deal for me.

3. apparently, It depends on how you define "fair"
To Hillary fair seems to mean only that it benefits her. So if we're using her definition Im sure she'd be "fair".

5. And could she head off Republican "voter ID" and carry out national election reform?
Or would she have very little credibility on election issues, having claimed a Soviet-style "landslide" in Michigan?

15. here you go:
"If you're a voter from Florida or Michigan, you know that we should count your votes," she said. "The results of those primaries were fair and should be honored. Over the last few weeks, there's been a lot of discussion about what we should do to ensure that the voters in Florida and Michigan are counted. Well, in my view, there are two options, honor the results or hold new primary elections. I don't see any other solutions that are fair and honor the commitment that two and a half million voters made in the Democratic primaries in those two states. You know, whether voters, you know, are clamoring for solutions to the challenges we face or not or whether people are coming out in droves to be heard, we have a basic obligation to make sure that every vote in America counts, and I hope that Sen. Obama's campaign will join me in working to make that happen. I think that that is a non-partisan solution, to make sure that we do count these votes."

Well I'll be dipped in shit.

Only name (of the front-runners) on the ballot, and they were "fair".

Oh, yea, that's the Democratic way.

I stand corrected!!

11. Caucuses? Open primaries? Not fair.
Primaries in which she is the only candidate on the ballot? Fair.
