Why I'm supporting Barack Obama for President
Edited on Mon Mar-17-08 10:48 PM by FredScuttle
People on this board know that there were few posters that were as hard on Obama as I on the McClurkin issue. I still think the Senator needs to make a specific apology for that. However, the past few months have revealed hatred above and beyond that.

As a person of color, I am appalled at the Clinton campaign. I am ashamed and absolutely depressed that a so-called "bastion" of the Democratic Party would stoop to race-baiting and class division to exhibit a naked lust for power to the level that Senator Clinton has done. I never supported Senator Clinton and her campaign's actions over the past three months reinforces that decision...I would not support her campaign in a million years. That kind of racist, divisive campaigning should have gone out with the Dixiecrats. It has no place in a campaign in the 21st century.

I believe that Obama believes in equal rights for all and I will do everything I can to hold him to his promise. I cast my lot with him, believing that his campaign will carry him to the White House, despite the racist attacks he's endured from the Clinton camp. I say to Hillary - you have shamed yourself with these disgusting tactics and may your God have mercy on you for the filth you've allowed to go out in your name.

Obama in '08!

8. My question: Did Bill burn that bridge to the 21st Century when he left office
I'm sure your decision wasn't an easy one. I too thought Barack would be the best candidate to try and fix the racial divide in this country. It's so alarming that whoever is responsible for his preacher's sermons, and trying to destroy him in the process.

Meanwhile Pat Robertson, John Hagee and Rod Parsley are getting a free pass for their hate filled sermons, all of which have endorsed John McCain.

Why isn't the media pounding them for their crap they spewed after 9-11, Katrina?.?.?

They preached just as much hatred. Double standards I guess. Be afraid, BE VERY AFRAID of the Black Preacher.:scared:

9. great post, but...
why cant we ever just say something nice about our candidate without saying something bad about the other at the same time?

11. Because that's what it took to make me commit
I was not in either camp....I was going to wait for the GE and vote for the Democratic candidate. However, Hillary's scorched earth campaign and her tacit approval of the most gutteral form of race-baiting convinced me I could not wait.

19. That's exactly why I went with Obama.
I supported Edwards to the bitter end - even cast my vote for him in the NY primary after he had dropped out.

I was waiting to be inspired by one of the remaining candidates, but when Clinton touted McCrazy over Obama (and please, Hillary supporters, save yer pixels - that's exactly what she did AFAIC) I knew that she was running a campaign straight out of the 20th Century.

I'm done with old politics. I'm done with divisiveness. Done with the 'top-down' strategy. Done with all of it.

Obama might be an unknown, but we're at the top of the 21st Century, and there are a lot of unknowns out there. Time to try something new.

16. And in the GE the Hillary folks. . .
walk away. If the Hillary folks don't vote for him, Obama won't be president.

(And at the rate that the economy is self-destructing, maybe we all should be glad
that a dem won't be in charge. . .)
