After all, he has said:

1. "The Civil Rights Act of 1964 gives all Americans another reason to be proud of our country. The laws of this nation and the good heart of this nation are on the side of equality." (July 1, 2004)

2. (Regarding gay rights) "I do know that we have a choice to make in America and that is to treat people with tolerance and respect and dignity. It's important that we do that. I also know in a free society people, consenting adults can live the way they want to live. And that's to be honored . . . e respect someone's rights and as we profess tolerance." (Bush-Kerry Debate, October 14, 2004)

3. "God Bless America" (every chance he gets).

So, who cares whether Bush appoints racist judges or invades other countries, violates our constitutional rights or opposes gay rights? Since, apparently, a man's entire career is much less relevant (and in some cases totally irrelvant) to his measure than two or three out-of-context snippets of something he's said along the way, certainly, it is reasonable to ignore all of the damage that Bush has done and just focus on the few things he's said that we may happen to agree with and conclude that he is a great and noble man.

Right?
:sarcasm:

2. And also that millions of words speak louder than 100 words
Edited on Fri Mar-21-08 09:53 AM by EffieBlack
i.e., that 20 years of speeches, comments, sermons, etc. should not and cannot be characterized by five selectively extracted sentences
