Although he's neither my 1st or 2nd choice, Sen. Breaux could be a good VP pick for Kerry.

2. Not just Louisiana but maybe Texas as well

Governor "Goodhair" is in trouble in Texas and may be a drag on Bush this November. More time spent in the "Solid South" is less time spent in the "Battleground" states. Let's make the "Solid South" the battleground! Begin with Louisiana, add North Carolina, Georgia, Arkansas, Missouri, and Texas! Make George spend time in these states and watch him lose Ohio, New Hampshire, Arizona as well as all of the other Gore states (including Florida) and the election. Go Cajuns!

4. I know many people on DU

may not favor him but from a purely political point of view and especially since he is leaving the senate--Breaux might make an effective VP candidate and almost gurantee upsetting Bush in a state Bush won by nearly 400,000 votes in 2000.

Breaux isn't my first choice either (or second) but at least he is a loyal democrat and not a turncoat like Zell Miller.

I've seen A LOT of Kerry stickers on cars recently (New Orleans and even some in Metairie). I think that there will be a huge Democratic turnout on November 2 throughout the state, particularly in Orleans parish.

that he would. Isn't he the most popular politician in LA? I know that his campaigning has helped get Landriu and Blanco elected.

I'm not sure he'd want to be VP (my guess is he has a nice lobbying or consulting job set up after he leaves office), but I do believe he would very likely be able deliver LA.

I think even Edwards (and possibly Clark) would help with that state. Otherwise, it's a bit of a stretch.

I know some here don't like it, but I think that one of those 3 needs to be our VP nominee. This year we NEED a Southerner.

for my liking, but he's been loyal to the party, and unlike some southern democrats that didn't want to be seen as too close to a northeastern liberal, he has been quite supportive of Kerry. Even if he's not the VP, he could definetely help Kerry by campaigning with him in LA.

He understands loyalty. I can sit down and deal with a conservative Democrat like Breaux, whereas I cannot with a turncoat snake like Zell Miller.

18. Breaux is definitely a loyal Dem and has been working hard for Kerry

in the state. His being the VP pick would pick up Louisiana for Kerry, but a Clark or Edwards choice may do the same and pick up additional states.
