If the celebrity GOTV effort Declare Yourself www.electionimpact.votenet is Republican sponsored. I have an actor friend who is a Dem who linked it to his site as part of a GOTV effort and it looks weird to me.He wouldn't link it if he knew. Are they nonpartisan? Most are but do they lean a certain way? Anybody know anything about them?

3. Lear is also a founding member of...
People for the American Way. PFAW has been highly critical of the Bushies and of conservative policies, and the neo-cons think rather ill of PFAW. It's a fairly liberal and pro-civil rights organization.

Overall, I don't think "Declare Yourself" is a Republican shell organization. Some confusion might occur because Republicans have started a number of get-out-the-vote web campaigns around the same time as "Declare Yourself."

As for Lear being friends with a Republican, maybe that was at a time when one could still be friends with Republicans, but disagree with their politics. The new Republicans have since encouraged a "take-no-prisoners" approach to politics which has probably corrupted a great many friendships in this country....

As for Lear's political membership, I wouldn't know for sure if he's a registered Democrat or not. I can guess, though.

Cheers.
