Should I vote in the Republican primary Tuesday?
Should I? I ask because there really aren't any Democratic races that are competitive. My Congressman, Artur Davis (D), is virtually assured of victory Tuesday and in November.

If I vote in the Republican primary (perfectly legal here) I can vote against some of the more extreme Republicans running for the State Supreme Court. (Yeah, it's crazy that Supreme Court justices are elected.)

There are several Roy Moore wannabes running, and I was thinking my vote might be best spent voting against them.

One of the Moore guys is running a TV ad, where the announcer says "Every liberal newspaper has endorsed his opponent," as the screen shows the names of every newspaper of significance in the state. I had to laugh at that.

4. Wrong plan
Vote Republican but vote for the most extreme, vile pukes you can. They have no chance of winning and it fools *co into thinking that extreme is what people really want. I always vote puke in the primary. We vote too late to have any real impact of the nominee

9. You're wrong
he's in Alabama - IMO the most populace state in the union overall for right wing ignorant bigots with Texas and Georgia a distant 2nd and 3rd. The most extreme right DO have a good chance of winning.

And before anyone attacks me and brings up the exceptions rather than the rule of good people in the state - I'm not going to pretend AL is anything other than what it is. It's racism, hate crimes, discriminatory/bigoted laws, idiot right wing elected officials (the most well known of late Moore), and extremeist religious individuals have EARNED it the reputation. I won't give a slap in the face to non-whites, LBGT people, and religious minorities (many of whom died or were scared for life in the state) by pretending the state is paradise for anyone other than white, male, heterosexual, christian, republicans.

And as a resident of Texas I have full right to call it like it is in this state.

8. Never skip an opportunity to vote against a Republican...
I registered Republican in 2000 just so I could vote against Bush twice...

Seriously though, this election cycle libs need to take the kid gloves off: drag your friends to the polls, deprogram the Naderites, and start a rumor amongst local Bush supporters that the world will end the day after the election, and that they ought to get in some serious church time right before the end...

12. We have to play by their rules
if we want to win. It's that simple. They don't play by the rules (remember Florida 2000?) why should we. NO MORE NICE DEMOCRATS! They play dirty...so do we!

16. Generally, it's better for Democrats to run against the most conservative
Republicans. Witness recent races in NJ and the PA primary (if Specter lost the primary, the Democrats almost definitely would have won the GE; now they'll lose vs Specter).

However you're rolling the dice if you vote for a super-conservative Republican in order to set up a Democrat for an easier run in the GE. You might help that guy win.
