3. I approve of the job Warner is doing for Virginia.
I think he has a really tough job and he is doing it very well. I would love to see him move up to national office, however, I would also like to see him beat George Allen when that smirk comes up for election in '06.

4. Good Man, but Edwards would be better for victory
I live in Virginia and voted for Mark Warner. He is a good man and has tried hard to undo or at least deal with all the harm Republicanism (cut taxes and demolish services) has done throughout the local communities in this state. He is zero known elsewhere, an adequate but not polished speaker, and really has little track record to add to Kerry's appeal. If we need a "Southerner" on the ticket, Edwards could be a far better choice.

17. No, he isn't.
He completely lacks foreign policy experience. I would be happy if it is Clark, but as long as the VP choice has foreign policy experience, fine by me. But definitely not someone without this key experience.

25. What is Clark's foreign policy experience?
Other than bombing places and killing people. Please, inform me of when Clark has played the diplomat and met with foreign leaders to discuss issues other than blowing things up.

27. It's called "The Dayton Accords"
Edited on Thu Jun-10-04 12:08 PM by cosmokramer
Maybe you heard about it...

Oh, and being a SACEUR is a diplomatic position as much as a military position...

:dunce:

Added on edit: Do I really need to list a resume? Christ, it doesn't even HAVE to be Clark, but it does have to be someone with FP/Military/Diplomat type experience. Sheesh.

Edwards'. He basically made his own $$$ as a venture capitalist, rather than inheriting it from Mommy & Daddy. Was the first in his family to graduate from college. GWU is a good but not elite school, i.e., on a par with good but not great state schools, and there are a lot of kids there who get scholarships and/or work their way through while going to school part time. He probably worked hard there in order to get into Harvard Law School.

23. I didn't know that. I thought his father was loaded. I think I'm confusing
his father with one of Elizabeth Taylor's former husbands.

Although, I do think the telecoms have been part of the problem, not the solution the last couple years.

during the campaign. Definitely a great guy and a good democrat. I'd still rather have Clark but i think warner would be a hell of a VP

12. I think its shortsighted
and VERY bad strategically to take Democrats from important positions of power while things are still so closely divided. Leave ALL sitting Governors, Senators, and Congresspeople where they are! There are plenty others to choose from.

18. By law governors in VA can't succeed themselves.
His won't last much longer whether he is selected by Kerry or not.

Remember they were so appalled when he won the governor's mansion that Jim Gilmore lost the RNC post?

16. Disapprove.
While I want to say yes, since I really like the guy, I just don't think he would add a lot to the Kerry campaign that couldn't be filled by someone with just a little more experience.

Plus, I'd really like to see Warner finish out his term as governor and go on to the Senate. Maybe then a VP run would be an idea.
