Bill Clinton lost the '92 NH primary by 8.4% and called himself "the comeback kid"
and the media bought it. (Paul Tsongas beat Clinton 33.2-24.8). Furthermore before Gennifer Flowers errupted Clinton had led the NH polls. Barack Obama lost the PA primary to Hillary Clinton by 9.2% after being behind in several polls by twenty points or more six weeks earlier. In retrospect, don't you think that Obama could have borrowed that Clinton catch phrase from '92 and proclaimed himself, "The Comeback Kid" since he made up so much ground?
1. First of all, Obama is already the front runner. So no, they are different situations. Second,
Clinton came back to defeat Bob Kerry and take second place. That made him the chief alternative to Paul Tsongas. Had Kerry taken second then he or Tsongas would have been the nominee, and Clinton would have faded.
