Wright will continue to be the star of this campaign
And the superdelegates will have to weigh how much of a drag he will be down ticket.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sPeQ2mKRro&eurl

The Republican candidate in a special election to fill an unexpectedly contested seat in a conservative Mississippi congressional district is using recent controversies surrounding Senator Barack Obama to tar his Democratic rival.

A television ad from Southaven Mayor Greg Davis tells viewers that his Democratic rival, Travis Childers, a realtor and Prentiss County official, has accepted the endorsement of "liberal Barack Obama."

Then, with Childers' face beside footage of Rev. Jeremiah Wright, it says, "When Obama's pastor cursed America, blaming us for 9/11, Childers said nothing."

Then: "When Obama ridiculed rural folks for clinging to guns and religion, Childers said nothing."

"He took Obama's endorsement over our conservative values. Conservatives just can't trust Travis Childers," the ad concludes.

Unlike a much-reported North Carolina Republican ad attacking Obama, the Mississippi spot is actually airing on television.

The spot marks Obama's rapid ascent in conservative demonology, to a place in an attack ad in a contested race that -- until several weeks ago -- would have been lent to Teddy Kennedy or Hillary Clinton. A National Republican Congressional Committee spot airing in the same district seeks to link Childers to Obama, John Kerry, and Nancy Pelosi.

The ads are a mark of how difficult, with the nomination apparently within his grasp, Obama will find it to stay above or outside the traditional, bitter partisan divisions he so often deplores.

Meanwhile, as the ad airs, McCain's rhetorical stance seems also to be working: in a column the editor of the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal deplores Davis's ad, and gives McCain credit for denouncing such spots.

39. I don't think so. Here's why;
The MSM treat Hagee as if he is just some RW preacher that goes overboard, but is really in a minority of slightly nutty preachers. Wright is seen as a veritable spokesperson for his race. That and his relationship with Obama is given more weight.

It's crazy and I hope I am proved wrong and you are proved right. But my heart is sinking.

14. I loved the speech too ! Different is not deficient !
Speech about national unity. We need to understand one another. This should help the Democrats step up and rally in support of Wright when he's trashed in the future.

34. Yes, I too hope the Obama campaign has fully recognized that the best way to defuse
the whole "Wright" issue is to make sure that Wright continues
speaking, very publicly, in exactly the way he spoke to the
NAACP. These are some things that really needed saying, and
I would like to believe that most of America is ready to
really hear the, understad them, and act on them.

4. Childers actually has a good chance of picking up this seat.
He led in the first round of balloting. Then again, this is the part of Mississippi where most of the Democratic legislative power structure resides. They honestly run Mississippi like a damned cabal. The last governor the state had that was from south of Jackson was Allain, and Lott was the only Senator not from that part of the state (and he was born there, just moved to Pascagoula).

Or his speech to the NAACP tonight?

Or are you simply replaying the GD America meme from the MSM?

1) Who will motivate younger voters to come out and vote--Hillary or Obama? Obama.
2) Which candidate has demonstrated they can best win independent voters who ultimately decide the election--Hillary or Obama? Obama.
3) Which candidate has demonstrated they can bring out new voters/ register new voters--Hillary or Obama? Obama.
4) Which candidate has demonstrated they can best raise money and is willing to share it with the DNC in a coordinated effort--Hillary or Obama? Obama.
5) Which candidate will truly run a national campaign that doesn't ignore "My" state and not just the typically democratic 18-state campaign--Clinton or Obama? Obama.
6) Which candidate will increase the turn-out of African-Americans to it's max potential with enthusiasm which will help democratic ticket from top to bottom--Hillary or Obama? Obama.

20. He emphasized the word. The implication he was making, by his intonation and
demeanor, is that he has separated himself from the guy, spiritually.

Why not just say "He was my pastor, he's retiring this month..."

He said FORMER pastor in the same way that someone says EX-wife or EX-husband.

21. That would be great news!
Wright is a brilliant and inspiring man, and inspiration in our party has been sorely lacking. Obama is our candidate, but if Wright's association brings him to prominence, it can only be good for the party and the country.

22. Ok, so we have NC & MS running anti Obama/Wright ads
yes the Super Delegates need to decide how many seats they want to lose for Obama.

States that go red in the GE still send a lot of dems to the house and senate, as well as making great governors.

Houston, we have a problem!

When the phone rings at 3am at the DNC will Howie have an answer?

31. Put Reverend Wright on Mainstream Media and let him speak
Let him shatter the spam, for those who aren't smart enough to watch Bill Moyers.

That's what Hillbots are really scared of.

What they should be scared of, is that ads talking about Hillary's dominionazi prayer buddies, "The Fellowship" might start showing up.

Now wouldn't that be interesting........

32. Yes, let him speak. I'd like to learn more about his ideas about the differences
he describes-

"Africans have a different meter, and Africans have a different tonality," he said. Europeans have seven tones, Africans have five. White people clap differently than black people. "Africans and African-Americans are right-brained, subject-oriented in their learning style," he said. "They have a different way of learning." And so on.

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/04/rev-wright-deli.html

And I think it would be good if he could expand on why he thinks black children don't sit at their desks very well. ?

37. It is amazing to me that Rev. Wright
is putting his book sales ahead of Sen. Obama's presidential bid. I can't believe he would be so self serving. He could have waited a few months and released his book after the election.....

I am gettig the impression that he wants Mr. Obama to lose the nomination and/or election, so that he can continue his tirades against white supremacy.

More book sales. More speaking engagements. Is that what it's all about?

38. I am strongly starting to get the impression that he has no problem with sandbagging Obama.
WHY, though, I haven't sussed out. Is it self-serving, or is he just ticked off? Or something else entirely? A Messianic belief that he's RIGHT and his message has to get out there no matter what the cost...???

He should have waited until after Indiana, at least.
