Sympathy for the superdelegate: Emails from the edge of the blogosphere
This is a gem of an email correspondence between an HRC activist and one of my state's superdelegates, who has repeatedly stated that they would not endorse until the primaries are done. I found this on a website, and it makes me feel really bad for that one letter I sent to a SD a few months ago.

Internet person: Dear Super Delegate,

Please Switch to Endorse Hillary Clinton. I am a hard working get your hands dirty democrat and I am writing to tell you I am one of the many who will never ever vote for Sen Obama. I am from IL and had to live through Sen Obama. I been through my union trying to bully us into voting for Sen Obama. I been through Sen Obama working for Rezko to screw the elderly, the poor, and the African Americans out of their homes. I been through all of Sen Obama's "present" and "mistake" votes in the IL senate. I been though Sen. Obama using Rev. Wright to get his street credit to make a run at the IL senate. I been through Sen Obama challenging signatures on the nominating petitions of state Sen. Alice Palmer to screw her out of an election. I with good conscious can never put America through that. With new information arising of Sen Obama's dirty deals with Blackwell it makes me even more worried for this party to know they would parade the weaker candidate out there. I am not big on Sen McCain but if I must vote for the lesser of two evils then my vote will go for Sen McCain. You can say I am out to destroy Roe v Wade, voting rights, civil liberties and civil rights but you would be greatly wrong, I am out to save America.... etc...http://www.hillaryclintonforum.net/discussion/showthread.php?t=10372

SD: First off I can't switch when I haven't yet committed .. and you people are really testing my patience with this crap

Internet person : I do apologize if you feel supporting the stronger candidate is crap and you do not have the patience to handle it. How do you think we feel when we have the media and Obama supporters saying we are racist when we don't back Obama? How do you think we feel when Obama has not obtained the delegates needed yet everyone proclaims it is over and how Hillary needs to drop out? So I am truly sorry that it tests your patience but think of how we feel.

SD: Yeah, and your name is John Doe?

This has turned off more supers than you know and when your candidate's fortunes are sealed you can blame yourselves. It's too bad, she is better than this and should have stayed on the high road even if you cannot. Rule or ruin ... that is absolute crap and nothing to do with a better candidate. I stand by my statement and ask why you identify yourself as John Doe?

Internet person : So now you are saying that Hillary supporters are considered low for backing Hillary? You should be grateful you have a powerful vote in this election when there are millions in Florida and Michigan who have no say thanks to this party. Pointing out how Obama voted 130 times present instead of taking a side is not crap it is a fact. Pointing out how Obama wrote many letters on behalf of Rezko to screw people out of their homes while also serving many hours as his attorney is not crap it is a fact. Pointing out how Obama had William Ayers through a fund raiser at his house for Obama's election is not crap it is a fact. Pointing out how Obama said in his nook he needed street credit so he went to Rev. Wright is not crap it is a fact. As for my name it makes no difference cause I don't only speak for myself I speak for many who feel the same way as myself.

SD: Anonymous equals cowardice. I speak for myself and only myself -- as an uncommitted superdelegate I look for reasons to vote FOR a candidate -- all you have done is rely on reasons to vote against and without enough courage of your convictions to man up and identify yourself.

You shame your better candidate with your behavior. Matter of fact, I will FWD your remarks and this response to the campaign so you can be personally addressed and thanked for your behavior.

Internet person: It is not about being a coward. I do love how you like to belittle others to make yourself feel more special. I have listed many reasons as to why Hillary is the better candidate. I have also armed you with reasons Obama should be reconsidered. If you feel I was too harsh on Obama then he is in for a huge shocker when the RNC starts to campaign against him. As for you forwarding my emails to the Hillary campaign I do appreciate that for I have kept a copy of your emails and I to am forwarding them to the campaign along with several blog sites to show what people run the Democratic Party.

*** Another Internet person wrote to the SD in response to the blogged correspondence: Hello. I recently read on a blog about a back and forth you had with a Hillary supporter. As I Hillary supporter myself, I would like to humbly apologize on the other's behalf. His behavior is not indicative of other supporters, and I am ashamed that he would behave that way. Win or lose, we are the Democratic Party, and must not allow this strife to split us apart.

Please do not think Obama's supporters don't behave in the same way - I have read of them sending death threats to reporters who report on him negatively. But again, most of Hillary's attempt to take the high road and not behave the same way, and I am appalled that one of her supporters would treat you as they did.

Again, I apologize, and I hope that this one incident has not changed your view of Hillary or her supporters.

*** ANOTHER Internet person who wrote to the SD in response to her correspondence getting blogged:

It is to my understanding that you are an uncommitted. You have a very strong voice in our party, being the Vice Chair of the Massachusetts Democratic Party. I will not bend your patience by going on about why you should not go for Obama, I like to think positive, so instead I will be telling you why I think Hillary Clinton is the best choice for ME. I am here to encourage you, and that is really all I can do. I know that what I say here you will have heard before, and that is fine, but I am hoping that you do not take this with a grain of salt--becuase I really do feel this way.

-- Hillary has won all of the states we will be needing in November. It is possible to win without California, but we know that Texas is going red--they always do. So if a Democrat misses California and the Texas goes red, as the usual, then we have serious problems. Where will Senator Obama make this up? I know that California is generally blue, but Hillary won by 10 points and that is a lot. McCain will have great success with the Latino vote in California, and Obama has struggled with them. McCain also has a good base with the white working-class people and Obama has struggled there. Loosing both Texas and California will kill us, and the road ends there. Hillary not only took just California though, she gives us a better chance in Texas, massachusetts, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Florida, New Jersey, New York--she is winning the big ones.

-- Hillary doesn't have the baggage. She has been around for a very long time and has nothing new to show to anyone. Everyone knows Hillary, personally even. She has been around the block a few times-- whether it is foreign policies and diplomacy, or helping a
former President make decisions. She has been there, done that, and is ready to go back for more. It took a Clinton to clean up after the first Bush and it will take a Clinton to clean up after the next Bush.

If you need me to elaborate more on policies, reasons to pick Hillary, or anything regarding my message--please, please feel free to contact me. I would love to debate with a well polished politician.

3. I just cannot comprehend that SD's lives are intersecting with random internet people because of
this ridiculous primary. Oh yes, I'm sure that DNC member will call you right back to discuss the finer points of proportional allocation.

6. Blackwell is the ping pong thing.

To which I believe Axelrod responded: "Any implication that Sen. Obama would risk an ethical breach in order to secure a small grant for a ping pong tournament is nuts."

7. It's sad that people are so fricking stupid. The sadder part is that people actually ......
believe this back and forth took place. Just proves that you can fool some of the people all of the time.
