My superdumbo just threw down with HRC
I suppose it explains why things are the way they are here in San Antonio!

Rodriguez said in a statement issued by the Clinton campaign that he still believes she can win.

"Not only can she win, I am convinced that she will be a truly great president," Rodriguez said. "In two areas of special importance to me, caring for our veterans and improving our schools, Hillary has been a real leader. I am happy to follow the clear choice of my constituents and support Hillary for President."

Between him and Henry "I sat by while my company helped trash the housing market and the economy" Cisneros down here... Aw the heck with it!

3. Oh, should I have used more curse words in the description?
Or pointed to some personal peccadillo? That might have put me in step, right?

2. Did your district go for her?
If so, I'd give him a pass.

4. I know, I know. But he could have gone either way with the caucus.
I've just been waiting so long for DCW to call Obama ahead by .5 all day and then I find out MY GUY put it another one away. Just disappointing he'd be the guy.

23. Rodriguez is thinking of his own career, too.
I'm honestly not trying to be snide here. If your district is overwhelmingly for Clinton, the super probably should be as well, if he is to have a political future there. He might actually be trying to represent the people in this case. Bucking their will is not to be done lightly.

I just can't help feeling a bit of surprise at a super's declaring for Clinton right now. Perhaps he's put off his pledge for as long as he possibly could, and he feels the mood is not yet ripe for a move to Obama?

It's hard to interpret any super's declaration, which is likely to be multi-layered in meaning.

7. Obama isn't popular with Hispanic voters
that's more likely the reasons.

Any idea why Hispanics don't support Obama?

and makes him a weak candidate for the GE, especially when Dems need to carry states like California.

this country has a problem with racism. I'm voting to get past it. I'm confident we have the numbers to overcome the ignorant in this country. Are you with us, or are you with the ignorant?

Polls show that Obama would send Hillary packing if CA were held today.

9. It's a HUGE machine down in these parts
Politics are a commodity (spreads to jobs, financial favors, etc.) and the Hispanic community elders had long ties with the Clintons so that's how they got such a surge of help in that area. I really don't think it was a black-brown issue; just a better connection. The "machine" isn't just Hispanic, BTW.

no matter how much Russert and the news media wish to spin it.

Question for you: Why does Obama do so poorly with Hispanic voters?

14. Neener neener neener! Mine just threw down with our 44th President
technically, not mine; she's from the other district. My actual rep, Neil Abercrombie, has been on board from Day One. I have, however, met with both in person.

http://www.hawaiiforobama.org/mazie-hirono-endorses-barack.html

Today I announce my endorsement of Senator Barack Obama for President of the United States. I do so after watching these historic campaigns unfold across our country, where hundreds of thousands of people participated as never before. It is clear that Americans want our country back on a course of hope and opportunity.

I make my announcement with deep respect and admiration for Hillary Clinton. She is an extraordinary woman. However, it is time to unite the party behind Senator Obama and to use our energy and resources to defeat Senator John McCain. Barack Obama can unite our Party and our country and bring about the positive changes Americans want.

Of course, all of us are especially proud of Senator Obama's deep roots here in our state, and overwhelmingly embraced his candidacy in our recent caucus. His love for Hawaii and understanding of its diversity have given him a foundation for understanding the diversity of our country.

I am proud to endorse Senator Obama and I look forward to a winning campaign.

I'm better now:), it was just such a shock (at this late stage of the game). Oh well, I guess I'll go back over the DemConWatch and see other people's congress members make their day! Big howdy to ya:hi:

16. If you look at the last 8 years how the Democrats have represented us in Congress
it wasn't just Texas where they didn't represent the people properly

The IWR, the patriot act, the bankrupcy bill, and so much more

We will definitely win Congress in 2008 by a majority, and hopefully the WhiteHouse

There will be no more excuses for the Democrats to do the right thing

I am not interested in 100 more years of war.

My vote is going to Obama.

20. When Congresswoman Lee
had the temerity to stick by Clinton in the face of her districts voters she was villified here. Now when this Congressman stays with his district's public opinion he is villified. So which is it? Are they to be weather vanes or not?

21. If his district went with Clinton
Than he has a fully justified reason for supporting her.

No complaints here.

Shelia Jackson Lee is going to have a primary challenger in 2010. If this is a principled stand for her good...however she will not be a congresswoman in 2010.

24. I didn't gripe about the good Congresswoman Lee
she's not my representative and she was exercising her judgment. I voted for Rodriguez in a grueling fight against Bonilla. His timing just broke my heart is all. I grew up during the time that MA was the one Blue state amongst the sea of Red back in '72. I learned while very young what can happen when you're on the wrong side of politics. Had Ciro endorsed shortly after the primary (despite some mixed caucus results) I would have shrugged it off. At this point in time, it just made no sense to me. Just the personal side of politics.
