On his May 8th show, his Worst Person of the Day segment, he slams Dick Morris for implying Obama is a Manchurian Candidate. (Nothing wrong in slamming a traitor like Morris).... Then slips and falls flat on his face once again by claiming Korea is in South East Asia. Which then of course invalidates his entire argument.

Most people with college degrees in social sciences know where Korea is, and it isn't in SE Asia. The history and politics of Korea is nothing like that of SE Asia. Why on earth would Korea's history and that of Japan's be so tied up together if it was all the way down there with Cambodia and Thailand? My god! He went to Cornell! Someone needs to tell him to lay off the sports if he wants to do political news.

This reminds me of the time Ann Coulter talked about our Canadian allies in Viet Nam. I am sure she meant Australian, but she should have remembered that Canada was where the draft dodgers went, so Canada could not have been fighting alongside us in Viet Nam. It does not matter if people can not remember trivia, but everyone should be able to extrapolate from facts that we all know. Everyone knows that Japan overran Korea early in WWII and made sex slaves of the women. They would not have gone all the way down to SE Asia to do that. Korea is just across from Japan on the Asian mainland.

I realize that the average American can not find states on a map, but people who go to top 20 colleges should be able to do so. And they should be able to reason out facts based upon other facts that they know quickly to say to themselves "Hmmm, that conflicts with other things I know. I had better think about that before I say it." That KO did not question whether or not Korea is in SE Asia shows that he is either working too hard and needs a break or he just does not care about detail anymore.

I guess that is wrong (although, like I said, I haven't seen the movie), but it is just as likely that Keith screwed up on film history than it is that he screwed up on geography.

We could have won if Mao had not sent the PLA into Korea (in the guise of the irregular "People's Volunteer Army") to fight alongside the North. It was the Chinese who forced US troops on the longest retreat in US military history.

If we ever got into it with the Chinese, it would be the SECOND war we have fought against China (though they contributed substantially in manpower, hardware, engineering and logistics in Vietnam as well).

Other then the fact that yes, there was a war between the two countries 58 years ago. Olbermann's slight blunder wasn't that bad though. North Korea was aided by both Russia and China, it was Russia that gave the North permission to invade the south. China ended up sending in troops later in the war when the North was pushed back well above what is now the DMZ. I know plenty about Korea as I have lived here for 4 years.

At least that's how I got it when I heard it. In the movie an imprisoned U.S. soldier was brainwashed in Korea, but he was saying why would anybody supporting McCain want to bring it up to attack Obama when McCain, in fact, was a soldier imprisoned in Southeast Asia.
