There is too much ugliness from both candidates supporters, not that it makes me like the candidates less.
I can go on one thread and defend Clinton and get slammed by Obama supporters, but then I can go on another thread and criticize Clinton and get slammed by Clinton supporters. A few particularly obnoxious Clinton supporters have accused me of being a "fake" supporter. It got pretty old, but I feel things are winding down now.

What genius did I avoid here? Last night I checked in just in time to read about Poblano and his projections of 20-40% higher turnout among major voting blocks like blacks and youth in November, storming the voting booths to the point that second and third tier states are in play. If that's the caliber of argument and projection here, it's mandatory to ridicule or stay away. Today I choose the fairways, actually the right rough, primarily.

Otherwise, I thought Lawrence O'Donnell summed it up perfectly the other night, during the daily trouncing of Rachel Maddow. Does she ever win, BTW? I haven't watched political programs regularly the past couple of weeks but the one reliable constant is Rachel Maddow and her weak arguments obliterated, then she feigns wronged with a sarcastic face and voice, like she wasn't provided equal opportunity to be even more lame.

Anyway, the other night it went something like this (paraphrased):

Maddow: "The Obama camp is not doing a good job articulating the continuing damage from the Hillary camp..."

O'Donnell, properly furious, and raising his voice: "There is no damage, Rachel. Hillary needs to be allowed to play this out. Her supporters will understand she had a fair shot, that every primary had its say, and Hillary was not forced out. It's only a few more weeks and that will pay incredible dividends toward calming and consolidating the party."

Absolutely. O'Donnell is an erratic analyst, IMO, but he nailed that one perfectly. Maddow was stumbling in the background, perfecting her wronged mode.

The only thing O'Donnell left out was Obama greatly benefits from a solid and successful Hillary over the final weeks. You don't want the last impression of her to be scrambling and weak, blown out in state after state. As long as she's still viable and, in fact, trouncing Obama in certain states, her reputation improves, the old campaign gaffes less front and center, and Obama eventually receives huge credit for narrowly dispatching such a formidable rival.

It's winning the main event. Obama couldn't buy that type of situational benefit if he blew every cent since February 5th trying to pretzel McCain.
