For those who insist that current polls are indicative of G.E. results - a blast from the past:
USA Today/Gallup - November 30, 2007

Among Democrats:
Hillary Clinton 45%
Barack Obama 27%
John Edwards 15%
Joseph Biden 3%

Among Republicans:
Rudolph Giuliani 27%
Mike Huckabee 16%
John McCain 14%
Fred Thompson 14%
Mitt Romney 14%
Alan Keyes 3%

But something happened on the way to the Clinton/Giuliani general election matchup: a campaign.

Just like there'll be a campaign between now and November. So today's polls, while providing an interesting snapshot, do not predict where we will be five months from now.

2. Well done and timely
I am so tired of these trial matchups. NONE of it means squat as your post aptly proves.

The only thing that matters right now is getting Obama firmly seated as the nominee and getting Hillary into her corner in the best possible manner. Everything else is just idle speculation.

3. Clinton was losing to Bush #1 at this point in '92. GE polls mean little right now.

4. Again. McCain has had a free ride since Jan.
The fact that he isn't up 10 points on both Dems right now. Shows you how much trouble he is in. Considering the Dems are fighting each other. And all the negative news Obama has gotten over the last six weeks. We're looking good right now
